The Rikti had instead used it as a living energy source, dissecting its luminous essence in pursuit of weaponized light.
When the strike team was ambushed, Raahim was critically wounded attempting to disable the containment field. In its final moments, Apastron reached out telepathically, offering fusion as the only way for either to survive. The merge was instantaneous—a searing unity of will, light, and memory.
