Dual Origin Enhancement
After being deceived that her father's life was in danger, Allison Ingeer was experimented on with a fusion of Crey and Council tech. This process unlocked a person's inner genetic potential, and the radicalist group at the helm mistakenly thought they could subdue Allison's will!
Finding out that her father had been assisting a Council-adjacent goup of insurgents with his shipping business, and had offered his own daughter up for experimentation as a show of loyalty, Allison lashed out with her newly given powers. The group of men had themselves been empowered, but for most of them those powers had manifested in the form of super strength or fire powers. For Allison, she found that she could lash out with an angered thought and cripple their very nervous system! She disoriented the group and made a swift escape. The Council may have thought that they were making a new weapon, but they had truly made their greatest enemy!
On the path to taking down this illicit group of mysterious men, Allison ran into another newly empowered person named Chet Hybdinski. She had taken up the moniker of January Arms, a song from her favorite band, and he had taken the name Nose Man, which was just nonsense. Together the two apprehended the council group, although it's wealthy leader and her father escaped on a speedboat.
Hero Career
Since then, Allison has worked to ingratiate herself with the heroes of Paragon, all while attending pre-med courses at the University of Steel Canyon. She and Nose Man/Chet were sought out by the superteam SPORT shortly after they began heroing. Allison and Chet dated for a time, before he abruptly left her for an ex-convict terrorist 20 years her senior but that's a story for another toon.
Her Praetorian counterpart, Alison Ingeer/Dawn's Early Light, arrived on Primal earth and found her way to Allison/January Arms, and the two became fast friends and roommates in Kings Row.
Allison and Alison would work alongside their team responding to the needs of the city and Freedom Phalanx, settling into a steady rhythm of tireless crime fighting. After assisting the pockets of resistance against the Council on Striga Isle, Allison (Jan) would recognize that her nursing degree had been devastatingly sidelined by her superhero career. She would seek recommendations from the contacts she had made at City Hall for use in her re-enrolling in the Paragon University network, transferring her credits from Steel to Croatoa, where the tuition was much more affordable.
While there, Allison would receive further expense reductions when she used her gifts to rid the campus halls of tormented spirits.
Allison was also involved in a plot by King Cabbage which resulted in the plant and earth based empowerment of another Croatoa student named Patch Kidd. Patch went on the lam for a time assisting King Cabbage, but eventually found his way back to Paragon and January Arms. The two caught up and found a spark of romance between them.
Psychic Block
In an early interaction with a seasoned psychic adventurer, a new acquaintance named Wingman , he would test January Arms for psychic defenses, suspecting that there was more to her powers than she understood. He would encounter an inner force which would resist his efforts to explore her mindscape and expell him, it would be the first Jan would hear of this innate security system. Some time would pass and another mysterious psychic would attempt to confront and examine this psychic bouncer. She would put Jan's conscious mind in contact with this subconscious self, where they would learn that it had been protecting her from psychics with abilities beyond what she thought she could handle, including the Council's initial attempt at controlling them. Jan would thank it for it's loyalty and love, hug the gaurdian, and absorb it into herself, unlocking the full scope of her ability.
She now consulted with Wingman about the ethical use of her expanded powers and sought training to better knowingly defend herself.
A Heroes Wedding
After years of Jan and Patch dating, Patch and King Cabbage journeyed deep under the surface of the earth. The planet had weilded to them what King Cabbage declared to be an "Earth Tear", a rare, tear shaped gem, transparent white, which he said the planet designates for one person alone. It was to become the centerpiece of the ring they would craft which Patch would use to propose to Allison. She excitedly accepted at the end of one of her DJing gigs, a night themed around pairs.
Throughout the engagement Patch would come and go, guiding and collaborating with King Cabbage as he struck blows against societal developments harmful to nature throughout the world. Allison would assert that if they were to marry, she would need Patch accountable to her as a partner, and that he would need to spend more time in her daily life, wherever it might lead them. Patch would cautiously recentralize to Paragon, keeping in close contact with King Cabbage, but making good to remain accessible to his fiance.
Jan would consult with an Earth Witch named Brandy who also went by the name Stormgust. She would evaluate the ring and report that it appeared to be a spellcasting focus, capable of amplifying healing and earthly magics, as well as Jan's own healing abilities. Jan asked how that could be, as her abilities were not magical in nature, Brandy would state that that was no matter, the stone was attuned to her, and thus would work for her. Patch and Jan would return to Brandy to seek an officiant to their wedding. She would make a request to the goddess to whom she served, a direct aspect of Gaia.
On the shores of Croatoa, Gaia would make an appearance, conduct the ceremony, and vanish, leaving King Cabbage and an ally, Gaean, stunned. Throughout the cake reception, King Cabbage would collect himself and approach the newlywed Lady January, as he would call her, and ask what request she might make of nature on her wedding day. With some consideration, she would respond, "Boomtown."
King Cabbage would rally the attendees to action. On this joyous day they would make war by the request of the newly anointed princess of his kingdom, to evict the Council from their foothold just north of Steel Canyon. Many of the superpowered attendees would answer this call, calling in outside help along the way. A few would stay behind to tend to the civilian wedding guests, who were excitedly awaiting word of the status of this bold wedding venture.
The Wedding Party would lay waste not only to the Giant War Walker robot champion, but actually delve into it's production facility, sabotaging it's production equipment, fighting off Council lackeys all the while. Just as the party were exiting the facility, a surprise wedding guest would arrive. It was Allison's father, now transformed into a Council warwolf, fighting his way through the crowd, determined to see his daughter on her wedding day. He would be subdued by Wingman, a psychic mentor to Jan whom she had requested to walk her down the aisle in absence of her traitorous father. Mr. Ingeer would be taken into custody by the Longbow operatives who had begun to show up to dismantle the factory, even as Jan had requested Stormgust and an Avatar of Poseidon to flood the facility.
On the streets above, the Wedding Party's seige had not gone without notice. Council leadership from Arakhn to Nosferatu to Vandal and more had arrived to dole out punishment against the meddlers and retain their foothold on the area. The Wedding Party, united against them, would make sure they understood that their eviction was served.
Love in Bloom
January Arms would remain at the Boomtown walker pit for days as Patch and King Cabbage would upheave several surrounding blocks of the concrete wasteland. Dormant for nearly a century, the soil underneath was overdue for a comeback. The landscape would be transformed by their tireless efforts as Jan would camp out, spending cold nights huddled by fires, and sleeping in the shade during the day. Then Patch would build his princess a castle. Correction, a Hedge Castle. Dawn'sEarlyLight and Gaean would visit most frequently during the replenishing of the land to check in on Jan. Dawn would suspect that Jan had maybe gone a little crazy, but as the land came into form and natural features began emerging, Jan's vision for the area began to seem less and less like the product of madness.
King Cabbage would provided dozens of his vegetates throughout the field, mindless humanoid plant being which he could instruct to defend or attack intruders if he were present. He would also construct an enormous, splindly monster of limb and root, called the Root Guardian, which wouod behave much in the same fashion. They would make for an effective security fleet, provided the king were on hand. Otherwise they would mill about, serving only as a visual deterrent.
After a week of absence, as the Root Guardian grew, King Cabbage would return with a gift. A seed from the Thorn Tree in Nerva, he and a secret cabal (they were in fact all friends to the couple) had destroyed and resurrected, cleansing it of its Circle magic and imbuing with earthly purity. The King would call it the Earth Seed, and buried undee Bloomtown it would interface with Jan's Earthtear gem, enhancing her ability in the area, allowing her to direct the vegetates and root guardian, as well as boosting her psychic awareness in the ares.
Realizing the two of them would be sitting ducks for other gangs and Council revenge schemes, Jan and Patch consulted with a known couple of scientists, newlyweds themselves, Killian Witchwood and Jessica Gant-Witchwood. After surveying the changes already made to the area, the two offered their enthusiastic support, especially in the form of a fleet of all-purpose robots, who would help clear and repurposed debris, and eventually renvovate some of the structurally sound buildings in the nearby area. Providing geothermal power with the assistance of Patch, the buildings would become a self-sustaining haven for refugees living in the further wastes of Bloomtown, so Jan plans.
The project is also under ongoing bureaucratic scrutiny, mostly by Jan's own elective by-the-books inclination, because there was no book to go by. There would be no backlash against any of the participants of the strike against the Council, that much was standard procedure. It was Jan's continual occupation and development of the area which was unorthodox in practice. The hazard zones were dismissed, even by lawmakers, as lawless blind spots. Jan had laid siege and laid claim to the area, but she felt there might be a way to coordinate with the city for cleanup and reclamation of resources, and legitimizing her rehoming project, to empower any refugees she may take aboard who desired a path to a life in greater Paragon. These ideas have yet to come to fruition, and so the folks at Bloomtown have moved on ahead, building toward their purposes regardless, because at least they weren't hearing 'no'.
Wildlife has begun returning to the fields of Bloomtown, foxes, deer and birds of prey notably finding their way through and stopping for a rest. Noticing the abundance of rats to hunt, the foxes have stuck around. This pleases Jan although she'll have to keep a vigilant eye on them, as she is now raising a flock of chicks to become egg laying hens. Patch discovered a stream hidden under all the pavement of old Baumton during the Tilling and has since broken it free of the shackles of urban development. The stream is now host to minnows and frogs which he and his familiar, Klumpp, had gathered from other spots around Paragon.
It's hard to guess what the future holds in store for Bloomtown, for now Jan, Patch and their allies do what they can to maintain their claim, to ensure that their devastating blow against the Council sticks. You can visit their home on the Evershard at JKCBloom-34600
