Bio
As a young girl in Praetoria, Alison Ingeer grew up idolizing the Praetors. She made the decision early to set herself on a path to work with Powers Division, if they would have her. Her applicant screening revealed Alison had a latent mutation, and her patriotic spirit was enough to green light her empowerment at the end of her training. At first, Alison was living the dream: protecting the public from resistance attacks, hunting down threats to the states, shutting down resistance cells. But as she matured and advanced to squad leadership, she began to see the plight of everyday people caused by the very people she once believed to have been keeping them 'safe'. No side in Praetoria was guiltless in causing harm to the innocent, but as she learned more about the Seers, a network of psychics being harvested involuntarily to subdue the will of the citizenry, Dawn could no longer side with the Praetors she had once idolized.
As interdimensional war broke out, the hubris of Praetoria's isolated cities in a world decimated by Hamidon began to topple in on itself. Dawn abandoned her post and assisted the resistance in overthrowing a military facility, which was feasible only due to the Praetorian army fighting a war on two fronts. After the facility was claimed, Dawn commandeered a bus and rounded up civilians and rivals alike, telling them she had a 1 way ticket to Primal earth. Oh boy did she ever.
Arrested immediately as an enemy combatant, while the civilians she escorted were detained in a refugee facility for about a month as the war ended, Dawn was held for longer, for comprehensive screening and processing. The thing which gave her the most hope were the frequent, nearly daily, visits from her counterpart on Primal earth, the hero who called herself, inexplicable as it seemed, January Arms. As soon as word had reached Allison Ingeer of Primal earth that her counterpart was being detained, she wasted no time making introductions and arrangements for Alison Ingeer of Praetoria to be situated welcomely in her new home world.
Jan's loving acceptance and similar inclination to help the innocent endeared her to Dawn. They became roommates, teammates, and sisters. As time passed, the differences between the two became more apparent leading each to a deeper understanding and love of the other. Dawn joined SPORT, the Super Powered Organized Response Team, and quickly impressed their leadership with her professionalism.
Helping out the heroes of the city and citizens in distress, Dawn set about building a name for herself. As daunting as it had been to arrive as an enemy, and start out in the shadow of her found-sister, Dawn continues to make frienships and connections all her own.
Recent developments
As Dawn saw the engagement of her sister Jan to a half-plant eco warrior with a heart of gold, she began to contemplate her future as her own woman, unbound on an open-ended path with an unknown destination. During a Crey media event in Atlas Park, her attention was drawn to a seasoned hero, Xeden , who commended her avoidance of the spotlight. She would subsequently work alongside and fall into a deep crush with the tormented yet noble old-soldier. She would see a kinship in his trauma and guilt over his role in the war, although the depths of his anguish had taken him down avenues to which Dawn had no parallel. The two triumphed against Avatars of Hamidon, allowing operations to proceed in the Last Bastion, giving a glimmer of hope that Praetoria could one day begin to be resettled. Their attempts at a romantic partnership proved too insurmountably complicated for Dawn, who holds a place for him in her heart even as she resolved to no longer press for a relationship which she felt she was inflicting on him.
Chronal Ambitions
Following a tip from Major Babe the team lead of SPORT, Dawn and the team co-chair Practice Girl gave some attention to a vulnerable point in the timeline where they found an opportunity to spare the lost life of their contact. This contact found their salvation outside of the time stream by becoming one of the menders. Weeks later, as Dawn was watching her sister close in on her wedding day, Dawn discovered an inexplicable portal to a world just like her own, as it had been before it fell. She tracked down herself to convey a dire warning about her own impending misfortunes, specifically the abandonment of her parents to share the fate of the world which she had fled. The counterpart was not amused, reacted with hostility, and was further frustrated when Dawn escaped through a glowing gold portal which did not respond to the counterpart. Dawn didnt let up, she returned multiple times, bringing friends to show them the world on it's way to imploding, and pleading again for her counterpart to listen. The counterpart was still green, enrapt by the stories she'd heard of the Praetors growing up. Dawn backed off and allowed her counterpart to see the cracks in the world around her on her own terms. Dawn would return as the world was again in the full chaos of it's collapse. The Praetorian army fighting a war on two fronts, the resistance overtaking key facilities, the citizens hapless and looting, Hamidon closing in to devour the last lingering holdout of humanity. Dawn checked in on her couterparts family home. Vacant, door ajar, cleaned out of its valuables. No bodies. Dawn was unable to find her counterpart anywhere on the destabilized planet. Although her parents never turned up on Primal earth, it was a small comfort to know that she may have impacted some other version of herself. Dawn theorizes that this opportunity was given to her by the mender she had rescued, but she may never know the whole truth.
Kindred Dispirits
In Dawn's efforts to advance her status and visibility within Vanguard, she was assigned a partner from the Rogue Isles by the moniker of Lady Speed Stick. Stick was a troubled woman with a sadness in her heart which would often be ventilated through rage. Belonging to a deeply connected group of criminals and mercenaries, Stick discovered she rather enjoyed having the option to clock in with their affiliates in Vanguard on her own terms. Dawn and Stick forged what felt like a forbidden friendship, holding a respect for each other that few of their own allies, well few of Stick's allies, could condone.
Enter: Nightwish
Sharpening her skills as a soldier, Dawn fell in line assisting with the efforts in the Rikti War Zone. At first, Dawn had aspired to demonstrate her skills and reliability where Xeden would notice, but the two seemed to catch notice of their own from an amorphous, amorous devil by the name of Nightwish. Nightwish would flirt and taunt and chide and push Dawn's buttons in an attempt to break down the barriers of her by-the-books good girl facade, as Dawn would insist all-the-while that she was an ordinary person who posessed an average capacity of physical desire. Night seemed to have been defying Dawn to prove this, and Dawn eventually played right into her hand. After backing down from her persuits with a relationship with Chris (Xeden), Dawn had been intrigued by Night enough to the point of considering a relationship with the devil, and her first with a woman. After a rocky start (Night had insulted Dawn over her crush on Chris) the two made amends and expanded the bounds of their friendship to include physical intimacy. The relationship became inexplicably estranged when Nightwish simply ceased appearing in the mortal plane. Dawn, frustrated awaiting her return, eventually accepted that it wouldn't be any time soon, and moved on.
Aunt Dawn
After her sisters wedding seige of Boomtown, Dawn stayed involved in Jan's life by watching their over their claimed encampment when either of them needed to step out, and also assisting with the intermittent needs of Patch's familiar, Klumpp, mostly by acting as interpreter when the rock beast ventured out into the world. Dawn, although certain that she was less involved in Jan's new life, readily accepted the role as an aunt to Klumpp, teaching him the rules to Rock Paper Scissors and accompanying him to events where they would encounter the members of RATS.
The Spider and the Rat
Responding to a signal requesting assistance, Dawn acted as interpretter when Klumpp had caught the curiosity and attention of a young, masked adventurer who had taken the name BloodSpider. Spider would grow fond of both Klumpp and his Aunt Dawn, and they would witness wild changes and developments with him in a rapid clip. Jan and Patch having observed some odd behavior, and Dawn verifying, she would find that he had been taken over by an alien lifeform which had impersonated him in his personal life. Dawn would convince the alien to give Spider his life back by making it see that it had basically been keeping him in a state of living death. The alien made good on releasing him and Dawn grew to respect it as capable of listening to reason. Since then, Spider has continued to ceaselessly barrage her with more life developments than she can keep up with, although she tries, for whatever reason, even though it makes her head spin! Luckily, she has found she's not alone in this task, forming an alliance and friendship in Leela, a RATS member with the codename Hellgnaw. Leela would demonstrate both an innocent sweetness and a capable responsibility over the chaos of Spider which would quickly win her Dawn's admiration. Although Leela has made affections quite clearly known, Dawn is currently learning to mitigate her apparent heartthrob status in the company of so many who seem to set their sites on her.
Lawn
She caved.
Dawn went on a vacation by herself... well with the company of Taupe Dog, and rented a cabin in the Adirondacks and read some books and contemplated whether she could ethically allow herself to date Leela, an animalistic sentient adult person in her own right, and made her peace that she could accept the love of a not-quite human, in spite of the challenges their differences were sure to present. Returning home, however, made this no simple task, as Leela's animalistic need for affections had embroiled her with a litany of other freewheeling women. Leela, ashamed and distraught over her helplessness against her own impulses, broke down in confession to Dawn. Dawn offered her a clean-slate deal, starting now, it's you and me. For a short spell, it held true.
Dawn and Leela lived, loved, and adventured together.
Time Ghosts!
Following Dawn's dabbling in alter-Praetoria, her friends began to observe spectral other-Dawn's at intermittent times, hovering around her idly. Dawn herself was unaware of these specters, and relied on her friends to keep her aware of their appearances. They seemed present in times of emotional distress, but not exclusively, and for the most part looked passive and disinterested. Occasionally they would chime in verbally to make a quick, abrupt statement, usually to declare "I'm the real one" when acknowledged.
Dawn considered them harmless so long as they were passive, however, one night, one of them went rogue and appeared in the bar of the Black Hand Society, of which Dawn's rogue acquaintance Lady Speed Stick was a member, in a state of emotional distress attempting to order a hit. Word of this traveling back alarmed Dawn, and she would consult with science-minded Professor Killswitch and Jessi Gant for a solution to her ghost-woes.
Dawn was becoming deharmonized from the Primal timeline, on account of her exposure to multiple other timelines, and was prescribed reharmonizing to her original timeline with the help of the menders to recenter her. Setting off into the past, Dawn, Leela and Lady Speed Stick set out to correct their friends de-attunement, while learning more about the place she'd come from. Just as they were starting to get their bearings, things inexplicably came to a halt.
Leela's animal nature got the better of her once more. She caught a scent and ran off, refusing Dawn's attempts at communication. Dawn awaited a response, but settled for confirmation of life. If Leela was ashamed of her impulses, Dawn knew she needn't be, but would allow the poor tormented woman to deal with her troubles in her own way, knowing she'd made it clear that Dawn was always available for any help Leela may need.
Dawn returned to her unfortunate status-quo, swearing off relationships for a little while, avowing to reinvest in her superteam and considering other companionship options for her time-therapy.
