History
Emmanuel's parents came to Mexico as refugees following the 1st Rikti invasion. Unfortunately, they died shortly after the 2nd Rikti invasion when Emmanuel was five. He has been in foster homes ever since.
His birth parents made him wear a unique pendant that suppressed his ability and made him swear never to remove it. After their passing, he kept wearing it until one day when he was 13, and his then-foster parents insisted he remove that "heathen symbol," leading to his first transformation. Horrified, they filed to get rid of him. He ended up with the Edwards, who are okay with the fact that Manny is a meta as long as he adheres to a strict set of rules: never use his abilities to enrich himself, always use them to help others, respect people who are not "as fortunate" as he was.
Enrollment in Grace Academy
Manny got in trouble with street gangs in La Jolla, mainly for preventing them from establishing a hold in his neighborhood. He succeeded in helping to put several gang members behind bars, but in return, a price was placed on his head by the rest of the criminal organization.
The news about a "white wolf" battling gang members caught the attention of Jenny Herder, the COO of the Victoria Landsfeld Foundation, who approached the Edwards and offered both a scholarship grant to Manny at Grace Academy and employment for the Edwards at the VLF's Paragon City facilities. She believes the school is ideally suited to help him achieve a more nuanced control of his birthright - and relocating them would shield him and his foster parents from the gang's ire.
Personality
Manny is naturally good-natured, if a bit cocky and over-sure of himself.
Even if he is a full-fledged U.S. citizen, he is proud of his Mexican heritage.
Abilities
Technically, Emmanuel is a nagual, not a werewolf (i.e., his powers were acquired at birth, not through an accident or a curse). Unlike most nagualli, Emmanuel can transform at will and not wait for nightfall.
Manny can transform into his hybrid human-lupine form at will. In this form, he has sharp senses and heightened athletic abilities, and his nails become razor-sharp claws. His recuperative skills are also highly augmented.
He has the strength and stamina of a typical 16-year-old who exercises regularly in his human form.
