Character Information
History
William "Bill" Mitchell was born in Hell's Kitchen in 1945. His mother having died in labors, he was raised by his father, a patrolman in the New York Police Department.
On his twelfth birthday, he helped save an old man from a burning building, and in return, the old man granted him a magical baseball bat before vanishing.
He used that baseball bat and the abilities it conferred him to fight crime, first as "Billy, the Golden Boy", then later as "Cooperstown". He was featured on several magazine covers in the late 50s and throughout the 60s and even starred in the short-lived Saturday morning puppet show "The Adventures of Billy, the Golden Boy" in 1959.
He joined the global law-enforcement group W.A.T.C.H. in 1974 and stayed with that group until its initial dissolution in 1985. He met Evelyn Yu when she joined the group in 1976 and they were married two years later.
He re-appeared in 2015, mysteriously rejuvenated. Although he still patrols Kings Row semi-regularly, he spends most of his time giving lectures in Paragon City's high schools on behalf of the PPD.
Personality
Bill Mitchell has a "never say die" attitude even in the face of overwhelming odds. He has an uncanny knack for inspiring confidence within others that he leverages in his lectures to high school students. His relentless optimism tends to make him a little reckless in battle, but his years of experience usually make up for it.
Abilities
His magical baseball bat (which appears to be a regular piece of sports equipment in someone else's hands) has granted him extraordinary endurance and stamina and may explain why he still looks to be in his early twenties.
