Samuel Hargrove was born in Kings Row, Paragon City's most dangerous neighborhood, where crime and corruption reigned. Both of his parents were killed during a gang conflict, leaving him an orphan. After witnessing their brutal murders, Samuel vowed to escape the cycle of violence that had taken everything from him. Driven by a desire for justice, he excelled in school and became an Assistant District Attorney. Yet, despite his efforts, the corrupt justice system allowed criminals like Ivan "The Judge" Korloff to escape punishment. After a devastating encounter with Korloff’s goons left him near death, Samuel realized the law was inadequate. Determined to protect his city, he trained relentlessly, mastering martial arts and honing his intellect. Adopting the identity of The Scarlet Revenant, he became a relentless vigilante. Samuel wielded fear and vengeance against the criminals of Kings Row, seeking to cleanse the city of its rot.
