Background
Mark Evans was a young intern at a branch of Steele Materials Inc assisting with the study of an object called a Quantum Tesseract that was seemingly inert beyond containing fourth dimensional space. One fateful day the lab was attacked by the Council seeking the Tesseract for themselves. In an attempt to draw the Council from his coworkers, Mark tried to escape with the Tesseract only to be shot and left for dead. He was found by Cepheid, a Kheldian, who had been observing the lab's work with the tesseract as well and knew that no good would come from the Council claiming the Quantum Tesseract. The Kheldian offered to bond with Mark, not only to reclaim the Quantum Tesseract but also protect people from it and those who might seek to abuse it. Thus, in a burst of light, Sol Guard was born.
Personality
Mark Mark is good natured and often aids those around him by helping shoulder their burdens, or challenging them as needed. As a hero he tends to focus on more lower level street crime, such as with Skulls, Hellions, and the Circle of Thorns. He tries to help other heroes when he can, even if it is just supplying a different perspective to their problems, and is often willing to hear out villains if they are able to do so without threatening harm to others.
Cepheid Cepheid is a Kheldian scientist who has traveled across the galaxy exploring the cosmos with the help of other sentient races. When looking for a host he prefers those brave enough to put others before themselves. He is gregarious but sometimes misses social cues to the embarrassment of his host. When not exploring strictly scientific matters, Cepheid enjoys observing the culture of his host's species.
Powers
Kheldian Powers Sol Guard is capable of the manipulation of matter and energy. This manifests as either shapechanging between human and various kheldian forms, and the use of energy blasts and energy enhancements to physical attacks.
Notes
Unlucky at Love: Mark Evans hasn't had much luck with romantic relationships. He was a normal guy in highschool where girls were obsessed with the heroic clique, those guys who could bench press a truck, run at lightning speed, or having preternatural charisma. Things didn't really improve in college. Girls he showed interest in weren't interested in a long term relationship, were a budding villains who wanted to turn him into a henchman or, in the case of some Amazonian exchange students, turned him down because, "he's was a good man, but they didn't want his death on their conscience."
Mark's merging with Cepheid has added another wrinkle to the his love life. The Kheldian is very interested in human culture and at the same time genuinely wants to help Mark, but he has little to no filter and will often voice aloud Mark's thoughts or make comments based on Mark's reactions that often come off as very embarrassing.
