On Lock
Laws are meant to protect the people. Laws are also written by imperfect people, and thus you find many that should be protected are often forgotten about and neglected. It is the welfare of these people that On Lock concerns herself with, and often that finds her flirting with the line between what is right and what is legal. And honestly? She'd rather do the right thing than hold to the letter of the law. After all, she knows better than most what it feels like to have the legal system fail you...
BLAH BLAH
Imani Abbot has a passionate and almost infectious personality, at times having difficulty formulating what it is she wants to say. She often toes the line between being cautiously optimistic and mildly cynical, but generally, she's a positive person in most circumstances. She has very strong opinions about what she views as right and wrong but is careful to only give voice to those opinions when it actually matters. She can be stubbornly adherent to her own code of conduct which can lead to a butting of heads with those around her. She feels that she must hold herself to some sort of moral code, as her psychic abilities if left unchecked could do very real and lasting harm. Imposing her will via psychic domination is a powerful thing, and Imani makes sure that the only time she does so is when the situation calls for it.
Imani's experiences in life have made it difficult for her to extend trust to those around her, making it difficult to form close connections with others. She is friendly to most people but makes use of self-deprecating humor and sarcasm to protect herself. Once her trust has been earned, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more adamant and loyal supporter in your corner. She tends to be much harder on herself than on others. She flippantly acknowledges compliments without actually accepting said compliments. She is prone to downplaying her part on missions, successful or otherwise. When missions go wrong, however, she has the tendency to beat herself up. She has a horrible habit of not addressing her problems, often indulging in dissembling humor or sarcasm instead of just getting to the center of what's actually bothering her.
While Imani has all the right qualities that a hero should have, she also has a bit of a Robin Hood complex. If we were talking about a DnD alignment, she'd definitely Chaotic Good. She's far more concerned with doing the right thing and helping others than she is with following the letter of the law. She would much rather stand for what is morally right in her mind, even if it means breaking the law to do it. This line of thinking is exactly what led to her arrest five years ago, and she is still dealing with the repercussions of that decision to this day.
