A mutant biokinetic and doctor-in-training, Miss Medic's healing powers and medical expertise are looked down upon by REAL crimefighters, who prefer abilities that, y'know, actually defeat villains. "Heals suck! Damage is king!" say veteran heroes. For all her valiant efforts, Miss Medic seems to be proof that they're right. Her poor fighting ability usually results in her suffering one ignominious failure after another: left tied up in the display case of a diamond after failing to stop the Gold Brickers from stealing it, getting thoroughly slimed from head to toe by a hydra encounter, left dangling helplessly from a street light by Freaks after they trounced her, and generally getting bound, gagged and stripped of her sexy suit (she always wears nice underwear). She is widely considered the laughingstock of the superhero community, and holds a variety of dubious awards such as "Most Popular D-lister" and "Best Damsel/Dude in Distress".
Despite all this, Miss Medic bravely does her best to protect the city and its citizens. In fact, she throws herself into her hero work with such gusto that some have wondered if the soft-spoken, slightly shy doctor is actually a terminally subby, colossal horny pervert who secretly likes all the embarrassing, kinky predicaments she constantly gets into.
Miss Medic is Arielle Kessler, who has always had a passion for biology and all things life science-related. Other interests include swimming, gardening, reading trashy smut novels, and playing World of Warcraft. She is single and lives in Paragon City, RI, with a Pomeranian (Fluffy).
Miss Medic is a mutant with the power to manipulate living beings at a short distance. Her powers are limited and specific: she can restore tissue to its normal function or boost its efficacy, but not causing damage or permanently changing its shape. She can mend wounds (internal and external), cure disease, numb pain, and boost strength, stamina, senses and reflexes. She can create mental states (such as calm) through manipulation of neurotransmitters, but is not a psychic. The precise mechanism for her powers remains unknown.
Her powers extend even to animals, aliens and artificial beings that are reasonably similar to organic life in complexity and organization, even if they have different biochemistries.
Miss Medic has genius-level intelligence. At age 24 she has already breezed through her medical studies, published several well-regarded researched papers on super-powered medicine and the Hamidon's biochemistry, and would be a licensed doctor if not for residency requirements. Part of the reason she serves as a hero is it lets her work under a special license for super-powered healers, permitting her to practice medicine in a disaster relief and crimefighting environment, counting her heroic service as her residency program.
Miss Medical designed and built her own lightweight suit for field work, using parts sponsored by S.E.R.A.P.H. The suit is designed for medical work and has poor combat ability, which often results in Miss Medic getting defeated (and usually swiftly de-suited) with humiliating ease. The infamously revealing leotard underlayer forms the Red Cross emblem, identifying her as medical personnel in war zones.
It provides the following features:
- Laser Surgical Suite: The suit's backpack, shoulder armor and gauntlets contain surgical lasers and forcefield forceps/clamps, equivalent to the capabilities of a full team of surgeons. Sterilizing and antimicrobial force fields help ensure aseptic conditions even in the field.
- Nano-Dispensary: Carried in the suit's armored belt, it contains pharmaceutical precursors stored in ultra-compressed form. On command, it synthesizes a vast array of medical compounds.
- Rocket Skates: These skates use forcefields to glide over ground and built-in rocket thrusters to leap over uneven terrain, allowing Miss Medic to quickly reach crime scenes.
- Sonic Blasters: Wrist-mounted non-lethal sonic blasters for defense against criminals. The low-powered blasters inflict little harm, though tuning them to the target's resonant frequency weakens its structure and makes other super-powered attacks more effective.
Other miscellaneous features include transparent energy shields that provide basic protection from enemy fire (they are more effective against attacks from range than up close, and notably do very little to prevent someone ripping the suit off its wearer!), feeling like a pliant, slightly warm bubble to the touch. The suit's headset includes comm systems to coordinate with emergency services and direct other heroes during operations.
