History
Soren Sundstrom was born in the Kings's Row neighborhood of Paragon City on June 10th, 1988, the only child of Henrik and Clara Sundstrom. His parents emigrated from Stockholm, Sweden, to work with the newly-formed Crey Industries, and Soren was born within a year of their arrival.
His childhood was a normal one until his mid-teens when both his parents died in an industrial incident in the Venice (now Crey's Folly) neighborhood of Paragon City. Crey Industries sued the Sundstroms' estate for willful wrongdoing, claiming the Sundstroms had been careless and had deliberately ignored all security warnings. The lawsuit left young Soren to fend for himself without much financial resources.
Trying to make ends meet, he turned to a life of crime as a small-time burglar, targeting mostly industrial and research facilities. One night in 2004, he had the misfortune of breaking into the Pandora Project looking for some 'stuff' he could steal and resell. In one of the Project's labs, he was accidentally subjected to massive doses of an experimental cryogenic agent that radically altered his body chemistry. Stumbling out of the lab, he was caught by the Project's security forces before he could master his new-found powers. He later agreed to be studied by the Project instead of serving time in prison.
In 2015, he had to retire from active crime-fighting due to health issues. He is now semi-retired and working as a "creative consultant" for Cooke's Electronics.
Personality
Soren has been described as being "intense" and overly serious (some even claim he lacks a sense of humor), but this could result from having to take responsibility for himself early in life. He can be cold and aloof, but he will get out of his way to reach out to newcomers to Paragon City.
Abilities
Soren's powers are linked to his ability to generate intense cold waves. This ability is always active, and he needs a specially-made bio-containment suit (air- and watertight) and various technological devices to keep it in check; if not, as he once said, "the whole neighborhood could soon become one big block of ice." Even with this technology, people coming near or in contact with him (ex., shaking his hand) will feel a notable drop in temperature in his vicinity.
He can willfully affect the intensity of his cold-generating ability, making it more or less cold. Still, his emotional state also influences it: any powerful emotion like anger or grief can increase it dramatically.
