Belah's Shadow
Belah Nain is, for all intents and purposes, a minor deity. A goddess. However, while her power is functionally unlimited, this is a far cry from totally unlimited. There are constraints. There are bindings. There are certain things Belah has to give up in order to maintain an Earthly form. She is not omnipresent. She is not omnipotent. She is not omniscient. Given that she is also completely without physical subtlety, and can be seen, felt, and heard coming from a mile away... sometimes more subtle means of combating a problem are needed.
This is where Sindy Calabim enters the picture.
Paying Evil Unto Evil
Sindy may sound chipper and playful, and may in fact be chipper and playful, but never, EVER mistake this for "harmless". She is doom, ruin, and madness to anybody that Belah points at. She is a weapon, a scalpel, but one that can cut far deeper than Belah's Talon of Ruin ever could. She will haunt a target's life until such a time as they have nothing left, or Belah recalls her and sends her to another target more deserving of her attention.
She is, as the name suggests, a calabim. She is a destruction demon, a member of Belah's supposed caste (notes on Belah's demonic or deific nature are still muddled, and it's entirely possible that both references are correct). As such, she sees Belah Nain as her Queen and mistress. She is completely loyal, and cannot be bought off for any price. Calabim are often looked down upon as dumb muscle, but Sindy possesses a talent for the slow, drawn-out torment of a target; one that involves quiet laughter and sweet voices in the dark... intermingled with the shattering of glass and crumpling of metal.
When she is directed towards a target, she will begin a campaign of terror that begins with stalking the individual. Completely invisible to every detection system known to human science or magic; she will follow the target and simply damage everything they touch. Furniture, flooring, walls, objects... everything will show subtle signs of damage within minutes of the target touching them. This will eventually escalate to full-on destruction, as valuables will simply shatter and crumble in invisible hands, with light, mocking laughter coming from all directions. As her actions escalate over time, she will begin utilizing techniques such as sleep deprivation with more frequency.
Over the next several weeks, the target's property and home will be all but rubble, and the target themselves will be reduced to a psychological and physical wreck. They will become a pariah as the pressure shatters their facade in front of friends and loved ones. Finally, their only close companion is their invisible tormentor. Never seen, and only heard as fleeting laughter and voices laying out exactly what they are going to do next.
Personality
Despite being a merciless terror to targets, by all accounts Sindy is an extremely pleasant person to be around. Her humor may take a swing towards the dark from time to time, but generally she is upbeat, helpful, and completely willing to aid others just as easily as doling out punishment. She exhibits none of the destruction lust that other members of the Divas do, and usually refrains from damaging activities on her own. She's not opposed to it, and happily participates if invited, but is very laid back on her own. Her hobbies include reading up on criminal files and psychological profiles of various criminals, villains, heroes, and other high-profile individuals. Not for any kind of insight into hunting them, but more to understand what she's up against in this world. Not possessing Belah's empathic and telepathic senses, she relies on the judgement of her mistress to point out the most deserving targets while she still learns to differentiate what constitutes "bad" versus "evil" on her own.
Deserving Targets
Sindy's "talents" are often reserved for those Belah wants to make an example of: high-profile individuals who usually have nothing to fear. Knowing that they have an enemy who could loose an invisible agent of chaos and retribution on them at a moment's notice has dissuaded a number of individuals from taking any actions against Belah, her club, her employees, or even the club's patrons. If trends continue, and the Demolition Divas maintain ties with Bells Demoralisation and Demolishment, Sindy may soon be introduced to an even wider array of rich and powerful individuals. A prospect she looks forward to with unabashed glee.
Notes
- Sindy's presence is known in the Rogue Isles and Paragon City, but hasn't been tied to her actions performed while "on special assignment".
- Remarkably fast for her size, her fighting style when confronted is a mix of street fighting and dirty boxing moves. When called out by Crush Hour for her preference of speed over raw power, she replied "You can punch a cheese sandwich through a tank if you get it going fast enough.
- A noted Family Consigliere by the name of Tommy "Steel Toe" Caprizzi once attempted to evade Belah's wrath and Sindy's attention by locking himself down in a surplus Vanguard tank. Sindy welded the hatches shut and demonstrated why locking yourself in a large steel resonance chamber was a terrible idea. He begged Belah's forgiveness the next day, promising no more trouble and pledging his crew's support to keeping the docks around Demolition Divas clean, safe, and friendly for clubgoers.
