Background
Audrey Vance had an almost unusually normal family life, growing up with loving parents and a little sister in Paragon City. When she started showing an affinity for spontaneous magic around the age of twelve, however, her family had to get help. They enrolled her in the boarding school she still attends, and she sees quite a bit of her family again now that her abilities are under control.
She's friends with some of the recent graduates from that school (Aly Driscoll and Adriwyn), as well as her classmate Cheri Eisenbraun. As the student with the most-normal upbringing, she's also the source for much of what her friends and even her main teacher (Jill Frosthelm) know about contemporary American culture.
Her "hero name" comes from having older teachers who were amused at how her power-set and initials matched what she could to help out in a classroom, with Audio-Visual presentation aids. It her a while to learn what they meant, since the term was nominally obsolete otherwise by then.
