The slowest nights are the most interesting.
It’s almost 2am, the bouncer seems to be asleep at his post. I’m washing my glasses while trying to ignore the obviously intoxicated asshole at the end of the bar. He’s trying to hook up with another patron but she keeps rejecting him.
“Come on, baby. You know you want me”
“Ugh”, the girl tries to get up and walk away but he grabs her arm and forces her on his lap. She manages to break free and punches him in the face.
He stands up and was about to hit her when suddenly in a flashing blur the bouncer grabs his hand.
“Release me!” says the drunk. “Do you know who I am?! I’ll have every paragon hero here in seconds if . . .” He didn’t get to finish his sentence, when the bouncer backs up, pulls his weapon and takes a swing. A gust of wind passes the guy but he’s unharmed.
“Ha! You’re nothin. . .” behind the drunk, the wall crumbles, all that’s left is his silhouette.
I roll my eyes, “I wish you did the hero gig full time” I say, as I call the insurance.
