Born to the Hasegawa Clan in the year of the snake, Sayuri's path was decided for her before she could even take her first steps. Now shirking her duty to be the future figurehead of the Hasegawa Clan, she has traveled to the City of Heroes to try her hand at masked crime fighting. Bearing a family sword dubbed Orochi's Fang, she draws her abilities from the magic of the blade and now stalks the streets of Paragon. Like a serpent on the hunt for prey.
Sayuri is not what most would expect as the future figurehead of a large and traditional family. Where others would be polite or formal she is often far more casual and carefree. Even so far as being rebellious in nature. Some would say it is simply her acting out given the role she was groomed for. Still, others would say she has always been that way and it is perhaps this opposition that drove her to reject such. The only one who could say for sure would be Sayuri herself and she doesn't seem keen on telling.
Due to her connection with the Fang, Sayuri has found herself altered beyond that of a normal human. Sealing and binding the cursed sword within her own body has left her changed in more ways than simply physical, granting her a hint of the old god's power.
- Regeneration
Taking on the spirit of the great serpent has gifted Sayuri with some of its resilience, allowing her to recover from all but the most deadly of wounds. Any flesh that is damaged or loss will eventually grow back, first forming as scaled and snakelike skin before eventually shifting to match her own. The exact limits of this are unknown, but it is said former wielder's of the fang have been known to regrow lost digits or limbs. Few instances of this have been recorded in modern times so the truth of such claims is up for debate.
- Enhanced Senses
While her vision and hearing haven't been altered in any meaningful way, Sayuri has found her predatory senses honed in other ways. Her sense of smell has greatly improved, allowing her to detect even the stealthiest of foes or prey by scent alone. But masking methods still are not enough to keep one unnoticed due to her ability to "see" or otherwise interpret the heatwaves a person gives off.
- Enhanced Strength
Not on the level of some metahumans, Sayuri is still far above what the average human can feasibly perform in terms of feats of strength. This is clear by simply how effortlessly she manages to use such a large weapon despite her small frame, but it goes beyond that in both her speed and power. She won't be lifting cars like other heroes but she'd still be rather impressive to watch in a gym.
- Enhanced Agility
Moving with the speed and grace of a viper is perhaps a bit obvious given the source of such things but is an ability that serves the young wielder well, allowing her to move with a grace far beyond her years and experience. She is able to simply weave and bow out of the way of most attacks and even those that land can have trouble finding purchase with the way she contorts and moves her body, turning what would be serious hits into glancing blows. There's a certain level of fluidity to Sayuri's movements that can often hide how dangerous they can be.
- Enhanced Reflexes
Greater than normal speed and strength would be wasted if the mind wielding them wasn't sharpened to match and luckily Sayuri's training and absorption of the Fang have given her such. There are few things her snakelike eyes fail to catch, allowing her to react to all but the quickest or subtle of attacks. It was said that previous wielders' reflexes bordered on the preternatural, so fast that they seemed to move before their opponent. Sayuri isn't quite at that level but with enough training and effort perhaps one day she could be.
- Venomous
The last, and perhaps most deadly, of the feats gifted to her by Orochi's Fang is also the most obvious. Taking in a piece of the old serpent has left her much like its former wielder with the ability to produce and expel venom from her body. The bearer's of the Fang have come up with several methods to employ such poison, whether it be coating the blade itself, expelling it at their foes, or, in the most dire circumstances, simply biting their foes much as any serpent would do. The potency of the venom is said to differ with each person in possession of it but regardless of its strength it is nothing to take lightly.
The most notable piece of equipment that Sayuri bears to battle is that of the sword in which she draws her strength and power from, Orochi's Fang. A large and curved blade, the sword is a Japanese Odachi measuring roughly 182cm (72in) in length. It is only with the strength granted to her by the blade itself that she is able to wield such a large and cumbersome weapon with the ease and grace that she does. And with it being bound to her very body she is never far from it, able to draw and stow the blade within her own flesh, taking the great serpent's fang as her own.
Sayuri also possesses a few other more traditional weapons. The first being various kunai, or throwing daggers, that she coats with her own venom. Giving her a means of dealing with foes that try to keep their distance or to pick off those trying to flee. And when a situation has gone truly dire or battle is not the best option she packs a handful of smoke bombs that she has learned to craft herself, allowing her to either obfuscate herself in order to reposition or flee.
