Appearance
Marie is a tall woman whose black hair and scarred face are hidden by an Arachnos-issue Bane Spider helmet. Out of uniform, she still tends to dress formally in reds and blacks, with a red eyepatch over her bad eye.
Personality
Before conditioning, Marie was best described as bubbly and upbeat. Post-deployment, she is a consummate professional, focused entirely on her missions and absolutely loyal to Lord Recluse.
History
Marie was born to miners on Sharkhead Isle, and raised from the age of 9 by an older sibling after their parents were killed in an accident. In 2012, while her sibling was sitting for an exam in Cap au Diable, she sought out medical treatment for persistent headaches that had been getting worse for years, which turned out to be a latent psionic ability beginning to manifest. The doctor, as is routine, reported his findings to Arachnos, and she was added to the candidate list for recruiting. Unbeknownst to the Girard siblings, Arachnos spent the next several years having preparations made to recruit the young mutant into their ranks. First was administration of various serums to shape her powers (in the guise of treatment for her headaches, which continued to get worse). Second was implanting cybernetic augmentations into her body to facilitate interfacing with Arachnos combat armour and ensure they could exercise control over her if conditioning failed. Finally, the sibling was removed from the equation by having tipping Longbow off that they were using their own powers to rob a bank in Galaxy City. While the sibling was awaiting trial for the robbery, Arachnos agents abducted Marie and brought her in for mental conditioning, combat training, and deployment. Since then, she has only been seen on Arachnos business, and has no recollection of her prior life or family; if asked, she will insist that she was alone until Arachnos took her in and saved her from life in the gutters.
