Oblique, the ever-hallucinating, elusive mystic, has been working for years with Paragon Police as a freelance detective. This kind-hearted, soft spoken, former Midwesterner has seen a lot of trauma in her life, but stays resilient. Brain damaged, her speech can seem non-linear and confusing; like a riddle.

Oblique, en utero, was the passing host of an inter-dimentional being of great power - transformed into a mutant. Born blind, unable to speak, ghostly-white skinned. This was enough to label her as "demonic" by her religious parents, and she was shunned, isolated, abused, locked in a cage, neglected, for most of her childhood. After one abusive incident at age 13, little Emma activated her powers -- regaining her sight.

The cunning teenager eventually ran from home and stumbled her way cross-country. Eventually she became the resident squatter of the Boston Public Library, reading and absorbing literature for a solid five years. As she came into her own, she moved to Paragon City -- where she felt it more likely she'd survive. In such time, Oblique has worked with numerous superhero organizations, and earned a reputation as an impressive psychic.
