Character Information
History
Ni'hele was a Seer-In-Training in the undersea Kingdom of Posidonius, but like Mo'nique before her, Ni'hele was exiled when her sonic abilities were discovered. After several months of wandering, she was found by a search party from the Victoria Landsfeld Foundation led by Dr. Amandine Laird and offered to return with them to Paragon City.
She has since enrolled in Grace Academy alongside her compatriot Mo'nique.
Personality
Ni'hele is the 2nd known Posidonian to reach Paragon City, a few years after Mo'nique. She is slightly older than Mo'nique was when she was exiled, having been able to hide her mutation much longer.
She is the more mature of the two, inquisitive yet reserved: her Seer training has shown her how to observe without being noticed.
She has displayed a devotion to Mo'nique, calling her "the Pathfinder" (i.e., being the first Posidonian exile to thrive outside the confines of the kingdom)
Abilities
Ni'hele is a mutation of the standard Posidonian race that affects approximately 1 in 1000 members, primarily males. She can project ultrasonic sound waves in the 25 kHz—100 MHz range, which is known in Posidonius as "the Voice."
The Posidonians can otherwise communicate via infrasound (0.05 Hz—20 Hz range) or audible clicks and hisses.
The "Voice" is culturally considered a great honor if the recipient is male but a source of shame for a female. Once a female Posidonian has demonstrated this ability, the usual retribution is exile.
Posidonians have an acute sense of smell that they can use to identify people and objects - but in Posidonian society (as is in human society), to overtly sniff someone is considered very rude...
As a potential Seer, she was able to learn the basics of the English language. She speaks in a crisp and clear voice, with only a hint of foreign accent.
Posidonian Seers
Seers are part of a special branch of the Posidonian military and act as spies and infiltrators, sometimes as saboteurs and assassins. They are efficient in blending into their assigned environments and are usually trained in the mystic arts. They are among the few Posidonians allowed to learn other languages (the English language in Ni'hele's case).
