Background
Pre-Exodus
The Felyn were an early starfaring people from the planet Stelcydal. Through their efforts they had established a colony upon the nearby planet Crimyes and sent exploratory vessels into the nearby systems. A mysterious cache was discovered and brought back to Crimyes for study which revealed the existence of the Entity. Communication with the Entity revealed that it had been sealed there to aid and mentor fledgling races that might find it. They were skeptical of such claims but with the Entity's aid the Felyn made many advances in the fields of medicine and energy production. In light of the advances the Felyn sought to unseal the Entity so as to work more closely with it.
That was a black day for the Felyn race.
Upon being unsealed the true nature of the Entity was revealed as a bioorganic mass that quickly overwhelmed the Felyns' containment procedures and started to spread out into the Crimyes colony, slowly consuming fallen defenders and technology.
On Stelcydal the Felyns gathered their fleet and attempted to mount a defense, hoping to capitalize on the more favorable reinforcement interval for their ships. While the fleet inflicted heavy losses upon the Entity's fleet, a large mass of ships impacted upon the planet.
Over twenty years there was grueling fighting on the planets surface, with the Felyns controlling the space in orbit, but losing ground on the surface. The Felyns attempted many different strategies to combat the Entity, resorting to more drastic measures as the war dragged on.
The Stelfelyn genetic treatment had been an experimental serum meant to help adapt the user to the rigors of space. With the war, the scope of the treatment changed with an emphasis on strength, reflexes, and endurance. It was liberally distributed to combatants. It was later discovered that the changes caused by the serum would be passed down to the offspring, such was the case with Xzio.
Xzio grew up relatively sheltered near a starport far away from the combat zone. She grew up among the other military brats in the base, with veterans stepping in to raise her when her parents ship was deployed in orbit. Part of her schooling included exercises with the variable mass weaponry that had been showing promise against the Entity's forces.
After fifteen years of fighting, and slowly losing ground, the leadership began investing in what was called Project Exodus. With the space largely uncontested, the Felyn naval shipyards shifted production towards several ark ships designed to house the Felyn population for an extended deep space travel. Xzio was fourteen when the evacuation order was sent out, and she was placed on her parent's vessel, a warp field tender, never to see her homeworld again.
While the Felyn people had developed faster than light travel, it had been limited to smaller craft. The Exodus fleet operated with a large warp bubble ship to cover the entire fleet, and smaller warp field tenders on the edge to help with field stability. They had planned many jumps to throw off any potential pursuers from the Entity. Unfortunatley the fleet passed near a strong gravity anomoly and Xzio's parents vessel's drive malfunctioned catapulting it away from the main fleet. Lost with a broken drive, the Felyn found themselves in a strange system with a yellow star. Their sensors alerted them to the fact that not only did the third planet from the sun have a habitable atmosphere, but there was also radio transmissions coming from it.
Pre-Portal Incident
The Felyn refugees were discretely allowed to join the human populace, officially as mutants, in a cover-up so as to not cause a panic over another potential Hamidon level threat somewhere in the universe. The Felyns discovered the chemical concoction that was being distributed in Enriche which drew some concerns with the refugees. They quietly opted to land their ship in one of the sparsely populated outside the city limits, using their ships purification facilities to provide water. This resulted in them being tangentially aligned with the Resistance.
