Becoming a Felbright
There is a habit amongst some families once in power to try to attain more of it. That is especially true with metas, mores the pity. And some of them do that in unconventional methods, such as eugenics. See the Duskcloaks as an example. The poor boy, there are no words. Others opt for other frowned upon methods like binding ceremonies on the thirteenth birthdays. That would be families like the Felbrights. The bindings don't always go well. There are side effects to the ceremonies (ceremonies they don't let outsiders in on.. what are they binding, anyhow?), and the side effects aren't always pleasant. Nev Felbright is lauded as one of their more successful bindings. Able to work with bodies and help them run more efficiently she was trained with a rigorous schedule from the moment the binding took, and was pressed into service as a healing mage. Twenty years later, she is still doing it, though rumors are running around that there is a bit of tension in the Felbright family tree.
