Overview

The Super Force is a covert military branch of the North American Federal Republic (NAFR) in Dimension Delta Zeta 17-46, established in 1968 as a co-equal entity alongside the Army, Navy, Air Force, Nuclear Force, and Space Force. Comprising 1,500–2,500 personnel, it leverages the abilities of metahumans—designated as "Special" or "Meta"—for clandestine, high-impact operations. Operating in secrecy until its public unveiling on April 28, 2004, the Super Force serves as a strategic asset against adversaries such as the British Imperial Empire.

Motto

Super Force, on its establishment as a formal organization in 1968, adopted the motto "Umbra et Fulmen". "Umbra" (Shadow) reflects the Super Force's origins in secrecy, exemplified by its focus on covert operations and stealthy espionage. "Fulmen" (Lightning/Thunder) symbolizes the overwhelming power of its metahuman assets, which can be unleashed with devastating effect. Together, the motto highlights the Super Force's ability to operate unseen while striking with unmatched force, embodying its role as a hidden yet formidable protector of the North American Federal Republic.

Mission

The Super Force executes covert operations, including sabotage, rebellion support, and counter-metahuman actions, to protect NAFR interests and maintain geopolitical dominance. It deploys metahumans like Samantha Grey (HR-713), who utilizes teleportation, pyrokinesis, and supportive magic, in operations such as Operation Rug-Pull (1968) and the Falklands Rebellion (1982). By integrating metahuman capabilities with conventional tactics, the Super Force ensures decisive outcomes in proxy wars, lunar disputes, and unconventional conflicts.

Organization

The Super Force operates under a compartmentalized structure to maintain secrecy, with a flat hierarchy above the Unified Special Operations Division (USOD) and strict operational firewalls.

Hierarchy

Chain of Command

  • National Command Authority (NCA): Includes the President of the NAFR, National Security Council (NSC), and Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). Only the JCS Chair and NSC liaison have "need-to-know" access.
  • Super Force Command (SFCOM): Led by a four-star general, located at Redoubt-22 (classified underground complex beneath Lake Michigan). The SFCOM General serves as an ad-hoc JCS member in the "Special Programs" cell. Funding is drawn from dual budget streams: "Black Line 4-B" (Space Force R&D) and "Black Line 5-D" (Nuclear Force Special Operations).
  • Unified Special Operations Division (USOD): Reports to SFCOM, led by a two- or three-star Deputy Commander. USOD oversees all metahuman rosters and active missions.

USOD Structure

The USOD is divided into specialized commands, as detailed below:

Command Lead Responsibilities
Special Tasking Command (STCOM) Full Colonel (often Brigadier General selectee) Oversees Special Task Groups (STGs), each with a Field Commander (Captain/Major), 1 Metahuman Special Officer (Lieutenant/Captain), and 10–15 specialists. STGs have short-notice authority for superweapons and tactical nuclear use.
Support Operations Command (SUPCOM) Full Colonel Manages training, logistics, medical augmentation, and cyber-soldier maintenance at Camp Desolation (Saskatchewan), Camp Ironwood (orbital), and Camp Liberty (lunar).
Intelligence Command (INTCOM) Lieutenant Colonel Handles SIGINT, HUMINT, Predictive Threat Boards, Red Cell (counter-meta analysis), and OpSec Cell (manages NDAs for exposed personnel).
Special Studies Command (SSCOM) Lieutenant Colonel Conducts R&D, including Arcane Research, Superweapons Development, Meta Origins Analysis, Exotic Sciences, and Meta Countermeasures. Includes Project Philadelphia, led by Doctor Philadelphia.
Liaison Office Lieutenant Colonel Coordinates with other NAFR military branches via "blue-dot" tasking orders, concealing SFCOM involvement.
Meta Reserve Pool Major Manages 50–100 retired, convalescing, or inactive metahumans in deep cover.
Special Response Team (SRT) Major 100-man rapid-reaction conventional force, deployable world-wide via suborbital transports within two hours.

Unlike Primal Dimension, Federal Republic military forces have not experienced "Rank inflation" -- two centuries of near constant active wars leads to a lean and capable force. Relatively low-ranking company- and field-grade officers in the Federal Republic's services lead large organizations and powerful combat formations.

Oversight

  • Congressional Select Oversight Sub-Committee (CSOSC): Comprises 2 Senators, 2 Representatives, and 2 Inquisitors from NAFR’s tricameral legislature, sworn to secrecy without staff.
  • Federal Security Bureau (FSB) Counter-Intelligence Cell: Monitors SFCOM for leaks, reporting to the Director of Federal Intelligence (DFI).
  • Presidential “Omega Key”: A physical token in the Presidential Vault, required to unlock STG nuclear and superweapon codes.

Assets

STGs are equipped with advanced infantry weapons, armor, demolitions, superweapons, tactical nuclear access, hypersonic transports, VTOL assault shuttles, reconnaissance systems, and medical evacuation teams. Metahumans are occasionally detailed to conventional or special forces units, as in Operation Rug-Pull (1968), with integrated personnel earning STG service patches. Conventional fire support from other NAFR branches is pre-staged during operations.

History

The Super Force evolved from early metahuman exploitation by the North American Federal Republic’s Secret Service to a formalized, independent military branch by 1968. Its development reflects the NAFR’s strategic response to metahuman emergence and geopolitical threats.

Origins in the Secret Service (Post-Second North American War)

Following the Second North American War (1861–1865), the United States faced internal instability and external threats from the British Imperial Empire. Amidst this, individuals with inexplicable abilities began to arise. Most were shunned or even executed, but a few were captured and imprisoned secretly. President Lincoln directed the Secret Service to imprison and contains these individuals, resulting in the Secure Containment Prison (SCP) being created outside Lawrence, Kansas. The Secret Service began identifying specific metahumans, such as Thunderbolt, whose powers were demonstrably not-magical, and began to deploy them as 'Extraordinary Agents." These early metahumans were used for espionage, sabotage, and intelligence gathering, often under coercive measures due to limited understanding of their abilities. Operations were ad-hoc, with no formal structure, and metahumans were viewed with suspicion by American leadership.

Sector 14 and the Great Cleansing (1896)

The Great Cleansing (1896), a purge targeting perceived supernatural threats, prompted the Secret Service to establish "Sector 14" to systematically control metahumans. Using Geas spells, Sector 14 compelled individuals like Samantha Grey (HR-713) into service, focusing on covert operations against external adversaries. Sector 14’s activities were highly classified, with metahumans deployed for sabotage and intelligence missions, marking the beginning of organized metahuman exploitation.

Mid-20th Century Growth

From the 1920s to 1950s, Sector 14 expanded its scope, recruiting metahumans like Freedom’s Aura and Gears of Industry. The integration of cybernetics in the 1940s enhanced operational capabilities, enabling more complex missions, including proxy wars and lunar disputes. Societal attitudes toward metahumans began shifting, with early discussions of voluntary service emerging. Sector 14’s successes, such as disrupting British Imperial Empire infrastructure, solidified its strategic importance.

Formalization as Super Force (1968)

In 1968, the Super Force was established as an independent branch, reflecting the need for a dedicated metahuman force. The Project Liberty Veil (1969) manumitted seven metahumans, commissioning them as Special Officers to serve voluntarily, improving operational effectiveness. Key operations, such as Operation Rug-Pull (1968) and the Falklands Rebellion (1982), demonstrated the Super Force’s strategic value.

Public Unveiling and PR Campaign (2004)

On April 28, 2004, the NAFR publicly acknowledged the Super Force, ending over three decades of secrecy. The decision was driven by the need to counter British Imperial Empire propaganda and demonstrate NAFR’s military strength amid growing geopolitical tensions. The President of the NAFR announced the unveiling, releasing declassified and sanitized summaries of several operations like Operation Rug-Pull and Falklands Rebellion to highlight the Super Force’s contributions.

The NAFR simultaneously launched a comprehensive public relations campaign to shape public and international perception. This included media briefings, documentaries showcasing metahuman contributions; movies, books, Popcast interviews, comic books, and public appearances by select metahumans, such as Eighty-Eight States, who embodied NAFR ideals. The campaign aimed to alleviate public fear of metahumans, emphasize their voluntary service post-Project Liberty Veil, and position the Super Force as a cornerstone of NAFR defense. Internationally, it sought to deter adversaries by showcasing metahuman capabilities, reinforcing the NAFR’s strategic dominance.

Full Mobilization in the Last War

The Last War, a global conflict beginning in 2015, marked the Super Force’s most significant mobilization. Sparked by the rise and exponential growth of the Ravaging, a biogenetic plague, and pitting the NAFR against the British Imperial Empire and other factions, the war threatened the continuation of life on Earth. The Super Force deployed all available assets, including Special Task Groups (STGs), the Special Response Team (SRT), and the Meta Reserve Pool (Such as Major Megaton), under direct Presidential “Omega Key” authorization for superweapon deployment and tactical nuclear strikes.

The war rapidly spread to an all-out conventional conflict with widespread tactical nuclear weapons use against the Ravaging and other competing nations. In space and orbit, both sides escalated to all-out use of strategic radiation projectors against each others' space assets and earth-bound infrastructure.

The Super Force’s efforts delayed enemy advances and secured key victories, such as the defense of The Gate facility at Spencer Memorial Technology Center, and the disruption of British Imperial Empire lunar and L-5 operations at the their Tartarus Station. However, the Ravaging Plague could not be stopped. The Super Force’s legacy survives only with those few metahuman personnel who were able to escape the dimension (Spencer Memorial Technology Center, Imperial Metacommand Diego Garcia, The Montana Incident) before the total collapse of Earth's biosphere and the extinction of evolutionary life in the solar system.
