Leaving his native Australia as a young man, Jack Porter became a world renowned big game hunter, tracking down and hunting some of the fiercest and most dangerous predators in the world. However, in 2015 he was detained while entering America and arrested for attempting to smuggle ivory into the country. In the months following, his illegal exploits as a poacher and smuggler were discovered and Porter was sentenced to twenty years in prison. However, due to the timely intervention of a group of South American mercenaries under his employ, he managed to escape and fled to the Rogue Isles where non-extradition laws prohibited him from being apprehended and imprisoned.
Porter spent time hunting Wailers but eventually found the challenge unsatisfying after killing so many. Moving on to bigger and smarter prey, Porter began hunting the mutated Snakes that swarmed the isles. While tracking Stheno, the mother of all Snakes, Porter was ambushed and bitten by a horde of the creatures, only narrowly avoiding death by jumping off a cliff into contaminated waters.
Awakening hours later with their toxic venom now coursing through his veins, he discovered he'd been changed into a monstrous, reptilian humanoid. Now possessing immense strength and a powerful healing factor, Jack Porter turned his attention to hunting the most dangerous prey of all - Superheroes.
