Taylor Shillaber is the granddaughter of Charlotte Shillaber the original villainess known as the Shil. Inheriting her grandmothers ability to control and move puppets the mantle of the Shill had been passed on to Taylor.

Charlotte Shillaber was once the accomplice of Montague Cards III aka 3 Card Monte. The pair meet working for the criminal organization the House of Suits. While the details are hazy, Monte thrived under the House of Suits ultimately working his way to the rank of Jack. Monte sabotaged Charlotte’s chances of moving through the ranks to keep her by his side. Monte was eventually caught stealing from the house leading to an inner turmoil known as the 52 card pickup war, toppling this house of cards, leading to the organizations arrest. Charlotte learning of Monte’s betrayal renounced her criminal career to testify against Monte in exchange for her freedom. Having moved on from her life of crime Charlotte settled down and started a family.
