Hightide
Hightide appears as a tall figure in a blue and green suit with a glass, liquid-filled dome set upon the shoulders. Though the suit itself is humanoid in appearance, upon closer inspection, the being within it is simply a shimmering, nearly invisible sphere floating within the dome.
The hero known as 'Hightide' is actually a being known as Kluu'ot (/'kɫuɔt/ or KLOO'AWT), hailing from a gender neutral race known colloquially to outsiders as the Aquareans, though they address themselves as the Uuloa (/'uɫoʊə/ or oo'LOW'uh).
The Uuloa are sentient deepsea beings comprising an outer protein layer and an aqueous interior mostly containing saltwater and other unknown elements.
Their speech is created through creating a vibratory frequency through manipulation of their outer tissues, which generates photovoltaic activity within their body, creating strobing patterns of light and auditory sound similar to that of the tone created when rubbing the rim of a wet glass with one's finger.
Their race is also capable of manipulating bodies of water, changing currents or moving vast quantities of it in order to travel through their environment. They are capable of limited swimming, but due to the nature of their bodies, it is much more difficult to move in this fashion. They are also capable of travel outside of the ocean for limited periods of time, but if left exposed to air for too long, the protein layer of their bodies will dry out, causing it to crack and split, leading to the interior leaking forth, eventually killing the being.
Kluu'ot came to the surface upon taking notice of severe dumping activity off the shore of Paragon City. Using their ability to manipulate water, they drove off the men performing the act, but decided that they must act further to stop such activity from happening again.
