History

Grigori Vaniskov was born into a family of renowned hunters, with a lineage stretching back generations. Born in Russia but raised in the rugged Bulgarian wilderness, Grigori had reluctantly learned the ways of the hunt from a young age, honing his skills under the tutelage of his abusive father and wise grandfather. His childhood was marked by long days and nights spent tracking prey through dense forests, forging a deep connection to the natural world and instilling in him a sense of respect for the balance of life and death.

Despite his developing prowess as a hunter, Grigori's upbringing was not without its challenges. His family often moved from town to town, struggling to make ends meet, living on the fringes of society and facing constant hardship. Grigori's grandfather passed away when he was still young, and one night further tragedy struck. When Grigori was 18 years of age, it was revealed that Grigori's father had been stealing pelts from other hunters and selling them to make a profit. Even going so far as to kill those who caught him in the act and framing their deaths as animal attacks. An angry mob soon came upon Grigori's home on the outskirts of the village hunting down his father, as well as his loving mother and his younger sister in revenge. Grigori was able to flee deep into the dark dense forests, where even other hunters refused to trek at night and took down the angry hunters, picking them off one by one.

As Grigori grew older, he sought to prove himself beyond the confines of his homeland, eager to test his skills against the fiercest creatures the world had to offer. He joined an expedition team composed of seasoned adventurers and scientists, drawn by the promise of uncovering hidden wonders in the uncharted depths of the jungle.

Grigori's reputation as a skilled hunter and survivalist quickly earned him a place of respect among his peers, and he formed close bonds with his fellow expedition members. Despite his solitary nature, Grigori found camaraderie and purpose among the diverse group, united by their shared quest for discovery and adventure.

During his time with the expedition team, Grigori formed a deep connection with a fellow adventurer, a spirited botanist named Elena, who shared the name of his late mother. Their bond transcended the boundaries of friendship, blossoming into a passionate romance amidst the untamed beauty of the jungle. Within an Indian jungle. he and his team were tasked with hunting down a man-eating Bengal tiger that had been plaguing a small village, already killing 6 people fateful encounter with the savage beast left Grigori gravely wounded and on the brink of death, casting a shadow of despair over the once-proud hunter.

In the aftermath, Grigori's expedition team faced a harrowing choice: leave their injured comrade behind to perish in the jungle or abandon their mission and risk their own lives to save him. Faced with the prospect of losing everything they had worked so hard to achieve, the team made the difficult decision to leave Grigori behind, believing him to be beyond saving.

Left alone to confront his mortality, Grigori's will to survive burned bright within him, he was soon found and rescued by a skilled native shaman, that he had rescued once before. Desperate to cling to life, he underwent a dangerous ritual performed by the shaman, who beckoned the nature spirits and begged for them to save him.

The ritual wrought a profound transformation within Grigori, imbuing him with newfound vitality and strength, but at a terrible cost. Grigori emerged from the ordeal as something more than human: a predator poised to claim his rightful place at the top of the food chain. He became known as The Pelthunter: a mercenary and hunter going after animal-based heroes and occasionally villains.
