"Bright-eyed in both the literal and figurative sense, Adartemos is one of the emanations of Areunos, the Platonic form of struggle from another reality. Generated so that Adartemos could experience things beyond his universe, this aspect roamed many universes until he arrived at one which riveted him - Primal Earth, whereupon he adapted to its fads and took on "Murkwing" as an alias, using the meaning of his name as the basis.
While a driven by curiosity, his own nature as a god who tests mortals with toil and hardship often leads him into conflict with those who regard his actions as immoral and harmful, primarily the so-called heroes of Primal Earth. But for Murkwing this is good, as their trespass into his affairs will too test his own mettle, and lead him unto greater heights."

Names and epithets
A major deity in his home reality, the mythological and historical actions of Murkwing as well as local conceptions of his figure have led to the accumulation of various epithets which would be used to better describe Adartemos in various contexts. These can be split into two categories - descriptive (in that they relate to Murkwing's features) and aspectual (in that they relate to Murkwing's roles and acts).
Descriptive
- Adartemos ("Black-Winged" or "Murk-Winged"): epithet earned due to the colour of his wings, and which he adopted as his primary name. It was also used as the basis for his alias on Primal Earth.
- Adarktis: compound meaning either "the Winged Serpent" or "the Dragon", earned by both Adartemos's fondness for dragons, and his subsequent adoption of draconic elements for his physical form.
- Lukanakis ("of the bright eyes"): a descriptive epithet earned due to Adartemos's characteristic shining eyes.
Aspectual
- Atanervero ("Father of Wild Men"): as the source of the curse of therianthropy, Adartemos is recognized as the "father" of all involuntary shapeshifters.
- Inviétor ("Hunter" or "Challenger"): one of the more infamous of Adartemos's methods of testing mortals is by abducting them and pitting them against each other in war games within his realm. In one variant of these games, Adartemos would personally hunt down his abductees, earning him the appelation of "Inviétor". Those who survived the night would then be released and granted great blessings.
- Marmaros ("Whisperer"): name given to Adartemos due to his tendency to cause strife by manipulating individuals.
- Olodehmós ("Abolisher of Nations"): in myths, Adartemos often joined the skirmishes between armies, sometimes fighting for one side and sometimes for neither, often with destructive results. As a result, many kingdoms and empires have fallen due to his (more often than not, unwanted) interventions.
Personality
Trivia
- Murkwing's "real" name and epithets are derived from reconstructed words of the Proto-Indo-European language and its descendant languages, which were either left intact or slightly altered for aesthetic purposes.
