About Ms. Maxima
Ms. Maxima is a name that's been around for a while, but it was never a particularly famous one. Originally starting as a sidekick when she was 16, she served her time as a heroine, doing her best to make the world a better place... only to become disillusioned with the way that how a hero might act in the spotlight vs how they would behave out of view being so different. She could only take the rampant corruption for so long before it all became too much, and she became more of a mercenary than a heroine.
But this Ms. Maxima isn't that Ms. Maxima.
This is her daughter.
Taking on the mantle at the age of twenty, Isabella Masters puts a lot of effort into being a shining exemplar of heroism. Her strength, endurance, and form are all still have so much more room to grow, but what she lacks in experience with her powers she makes up for in eagerness, and a genuine desire to help her community. Additionally, her experience as an engineer means those sunglasses she wears aren't just for show! Containing greatly miniaturized components, her glasses are a combination of magic and science that serve both as a linkup to her smartphone and advanced sensors. Her engineering knowledge is also immensely helpful as the still powering up heroine deals with robots and other machines!
Alongside Lightbrand, The Vernal Witch, Impact Girl, Umbra Midnight, Pure Heart, and Wax, Ms. Maxima reconstituted the super group Spectrum not under her leadership, but as a group without a hierarchy through which they would all be capable of more good.
About Isabella Masters
The woman behind the sunglasses, Isabella Masters herself, is much more complicated than a quick look might let on.
For one, Isabella Masters (commonly referred to as "Bella", "Izzy", "Iz", or "Bells"), while twenty years old, has only had the name since January 5th, 2024.
Though commonly seen wearing glasses, they contain no prescription. Instead, they function much like the sunglasses she wears as Ms. Maxima. Even when she appears to be very focused on a discussion at hand, she's often browsing the internet, checking sources, or engaging in other conversations digitally.
A regular in the club scene, Bella never misses a chance to visit Penny Palace, is quite commonly spotted at Oasis, and her love of the goth aesthetic (as indicated by her ever present black makeup) and goth music makes her a regular at the Black Cat. But who was she before She was Isabella Masters?
About Ruby Masters
Before there was an Isabella Masters, there was a Ruby Masters. They might share the same last name, but they were from two very different sources. Instead of being Valerie Masters' daughter, Ruby was the daughter of the arch demon Ruinica, better known to many as Rue Masters the founder and CEO of the fashion boutique Fantasia Diabolique.
Though she'd began her time in her mother's company as an intern in Research & Development, Ruby had quickly ascended to the executive ranks. Beginning first as the head of Building Services, she moved on to the position of Executive Vice President where she spent significant time running the corporation during her mother's regular absences. While her main concerns were social and professional, she did time to time don the identity of The Shimmering Ruby where she utilized her own demonic magic, or magitech, to look after her local community often in the form of regular team actions with metahumans working for Fantasia Diabolique.
Over time she became less and less interested in magitech, and more interested in advancing her own personal magic. Seen to wield powerful flames, or even the manipulation of energy itself, Ruby was a dangerous foe and a powerful ally.
But Ruby Masters wasn't always her identity any more than Isabella Masters.
About Lucia Argento
Lucia Argento, or Lucy as she usually preferred to be called, was a very different woman from who she would later become.
Claiming to suffer from a condition that made her effectively blind in all but the most dim of lighting conditions, Lucy wore sunglasses. Until January of 2023, she was largely a very solitary woman. She got into college at a very young age, and was well on the way to getting her masters in electrical engineering at the age of 19.
When she wasn't studying, Lucy would don a self-made powersuit that utilized her very weak innate magic and would become Silver Girl! Under this identity she protected the lives that she could while also gathering research data for what she considered her life's goal: proving that magic could be understood with a scientific approach. After all, if the same hand motions could lead to the same fireball there needed to be some underlying principles and beyond incorporating it into her suit, she also wanted to be able to contribute a greater understanding of the world.
An accident amidst her research had left her unable to walk, but she covered for this injury by developing a pair of "hover heels". Using the clicks, she was able to tell that she was still on the ground.
Briefly, she was a part of the super group "Spectrum" put together by her half-sister Sarah LaSilvas in an attempt to deal with the threat of Count Dominus. Eventually the team broke apart, and Lucy was left feeling more lonely than ever. Eventually, a classmate would offer her a business card for Fantasia Diabolique to touch up her fashion sense, changing the young woman's life forever.
