History

Daniel Harper was born with an ear for perfection — not in the metaphorical sense, but a literal, pitch-perfect ability to detect even the faintest shifts in sound. Growing up in Chicago, he spent his childhood surrounded by the hum of city life — the rattle of subway tracks, the rhythm of street performers, the whisper of wind between steel towers. While other kids collected baseball cards, Dan collected noises, recording them on a battered cassette recorder and replaying them to study their patterns.

Years later, as a rising acoustic engineer, he was tasked with designing a “Harmonic Energy Array” — a cutting-edge device intended to harness sound vibrations as renewable energy. The project was bold, experimental, and highly unstable. During the final testing phase, a miscalculated resonance spike overloaded the system. Instead of an explosion, a blinding sphere of pure sound erupted, engulfing Dan in a storm of pressure waves and harmonics.

Relocating to Paragon City, Harper adopted the hero name Wave-Chord.
