Backstory

Audel is a homunculus construct created in the dark during a leap year’s summer solstice. Her mother was driven to create her out of loneliness and desire for a daughter of her own. Given shape in the body of a twelve year old girl, her consciousness took shape to her physical age and her new soul bonded to her new flesh. Then the artificially created soul is bound inside of the philosopher’s stone. Its power alone acts as an anchor between body and soul.

No one knew if her physiology was due to a mutation, a technological blunder, work of magic or a scientific experiment gone wrong. Her father interfered with any chance to answer these questions and Jay was cryptic whenever he was questioned. School officials had no choice but to let her attend grade school within the Kings Row district.

Her strength and invulnerability only made her stand out from her classmates. Audel felt alone and isolated from the rest of the world. She was teased ruthlessly and it made her start to resent humanity until two brave children put an end to the bullying; May Carter and Reed Davis.

Since that day, Audel learnt to feel and, more importantly, to love.

Through her father and close friends, she’s learnt to not only control her strength but to embrace it. Her years growing up in Kings Row were spent with May and Reed, defending the Row from different gangs(and Nemesis plots) and deciding who she wants to be. Audel wanted to be a hero worthy of the Luficia moniker but chose a new name for herself; Solarguard.

As Solarguard, she continued to learn and to love, fighting for a better tomorrow. It took time for her to realize what kind of hero her mother was and decide what kind of hero Audel wants to be; a good person who loves the world and the life that exists on it.

Today

Under the name of Solarguard, she attended the Fair in 2021 to find the right team to fight with. Briefly interested in The Global Defense Force, Audel ended up with the New Defenders. Originally a splinter group of young heroes under Global Defense Force's wing, it was led by Anomalie and she made new friends, and foes, alike.

Due to FBSA interference, many members parted aways from the New Defenders and came to an Accord all on their own. Audel sought to reform the Steadfast Pact but someone in Arachnos wanted to replicate her mother's means of creating homunculi. Fleeing for a whole year, the Accord managed to bring her back to Paragon City.

On her return to Paragon City, she's joined the Accord officially and became one of their members alongside Anomalie, Vector, Ultrali, Ghost Eyes, Celestial and Sun Gun. Her engagement to the famous Atlas D'Arc has brought her name higher in fame as well as her latest heroic deeds protecting people, and animals, alike.

Taking part in *A Civic Appeal*, a community story ran by Terminal, has only brought her name more into the mainstream media.

Personality

Audel is a kind and compassionate woman despite her upbringing. She's gentle with her touch and is willing to hear anyone out even if she can't understand it. As if stuck in a world made of glass, she's afraid of breaking anything with her weight and is even sensitive about it. Of course, being emotional, she's very quick to speak up and grow passionate with her words.

She's a hopeless romantic and gets excited whenever she sees her friends in budding relationships. Audel loves to indulge in sweets and whenever anyone is feeling down, she's ready to cook something delicious for anyone. Everyone seems to love her homemade potato chips! Audel wishes she could make sweets as well as she could make homemade meals though. Her potato chips is why she's considering opening a local business involving snacks.

Her gentle touch has led her take calm hobbies such as crocheting, cooking, in-door gardening and reading historical and romance novels. Only recently has she grown into video games, thanks to her fiancé, and has grown a love for cozy games. She prefers to be outdoors, surrounded by nature and jogging through the streets of Paragon City.

Powers & Abilities

• Hemera Incarnate: Since the incident of her mother's ego death and interference with the Well, Audel lost the incarnate powers of Sol and replaced with Hermana. As such, Solarguard inherited her powers as well as her loving influence.

• Hemera's Philosopher's Stone: The soul gem's shell was created by Direct Control and other influences for Audel's artificial soul. Because of bearing Hermana's mantle, it has empowered and changed the stone in of itself. While originally designed as a Philosopher's Stone, Hermana's mantle has given her soul protection. The stone is capable of bringing a person to life, like any philosopher's stone, but it would not effect the soul. However, this power is only able to be used once a year...

• Love Empowerment: Through Hermana and the remnants of her mother, this allows the Solarguard to channel the profound and transformative power of love to enhance her powers and abilities should Audel ever find herself fighting at night. During the day, this only helps strengthens her instead. The stronger the love she feels to a person she's able to focus on, the stronger and more potent her abilities become.

• Daytime Perception: Audel has heightened senses during daylight hours, enabling her to detect and perceive things more clearly. This includes great distances as well.

• Super Strength: Set apart from her incarnate mantle, her unusual density in her body has gifted her with super strength. Her strength is stronger during the daytime or empowered by her love.

• Invulnerability: Due to being created with unusual density, it's allowed her to become super durable! With Hermana's mantle and her love empowerment, this can increase to being near invulnerable during the daytime. Funny how a miscalculation with numbers led Audel to be this strong.

• Weather Control - Daytime Influence: Audel has limited control over weather phenomena during the day. She's able to clear skies, summon gentle rain or even dispersing powerful storms to protect communities from flooding. Although she's able to attempt this at night, it takes her own solar energy to do it.

• Solar Manipulation & Energy Projection: Absorbing the light from the sun, Audel is able to manipulate aspects from the sun into short or long term blasts. Her signature move is to empower solar energy into her fists for a powerful strike against her opponents!

• Sunlight Healing: Her light has limited ability to heal others with sunlight from herself. She cannot heal herself! While able to tend to minor to moderate injuries, she's only capable of using her sunlight to stability serious to critical injuries until a doctor is able to treat them.

• Daytime Flight: During the day, Solarguard is able to fly at incredible speeds. At night, while able to fly, she's required to use solar energy to allow herself to move at the same speed.

• Animal Communication: Audel can communicate with animals! Being able to understand their needs and feelings, she can also influence their behavior. Her loving warmth can calm aggressive creatures or even rally them to assist her.

Weaknesses

• Acranium: A mysterious mystical metal that was created specifically to assassinate Solarguard and act as her own personal kryptonite. It can cut through her like a hot knife through butter, as if it can unbind the very magic that holds the homunculus together. If created as shackles, it can be the only metal that Audel can't break out of. If kept in its chaotic crystallized shape, its very magical aura can stun the heroine in place.

Originally believed to have been designed by Arachnos, it turns out that they weren't responsible in its making. Who created this metal and why do they want to see Audel perish so badly?

• Nighttime Limitation: Solarguard's powers are significantly weakened during the night or in the absence of sunlight. She relies on stored solar energy, which can deplete over time. Though love is able to be converted into solar light, if under emotionally durress, this weakness is still at play.

• Eclipse Vulnerability: During solar eclipses or in prolonged darkness, Audel's powers weaken significantly, making her more vulnerable to attacks.

• Hatred:: Individuals filled with intense hatred can weaken Solarguard's love empowerment, unless her love is able to overpower hate.

• Curse of the Furies: Even with her mother's sacrifice, interference from the Well and being modified by a powerful mage, she carries the curse as is even in its modified form. Considered to be a "Broken Talon" by some of the Talons of Vengeance, the modified curse takes hatred and converts it into love. While it can help empower her, it can also hurt her should hatred become too great. Right now, hate and love act as an equilibrium to one another and lets her exist as she is. Sooner or later, the curse will have be removed permanently.

May Carter: Growing up in Kings Row wasn't easy. When May approached and befriended Audel, she taught Audie everything about Kings Row. After graduating with a fine arts degree, she returned back home and opened her own tattoo shop. Every tattoo on May's body was designed by her. Rumor has it that May's one of the only people who can use mystical ink without any issue. Audel considers May one of her best friends and May is willing to drop everything to help her friend. With Solarguard established as a hero, May gets to enjoy her business while the many gangs in the city refusing to touch her store.

Moonscorch: A clone modified from her own DNA, her "brother" was an experiment created by not only his but other DNA of many incarnates mixed in with Audel's. Because most of his DNA was created from a homunculus, he lacked a soul and, thus, lacked any feeling. With no love of his own to carry and incapable of feeling much of anything, his moonlight was corrupted to mutate anyone caught in his light. Now having broken away from his "family," his goal is to show his "sister" the inferiority of emotion as well as see what all humans look like when exposed to his moonlight. Since Moonscorch has started to develop a soul, he has begun to feel emotions of his own.

After briefly taking hold of Emily Engel's inheritance, he mysteriously disappeared without a trace. No one knows what happened but all can be said for sure that Moonscorch is still plotting behind the scenes...

The Grun'Tuk Empire: In a simulation of a perfect world, it showed how Audel with six other heroes stopped the invasion of the Grun'Tuk. It was because of this prophecy that it reached the Grun'Tuk Empire. Since then, she's been at war with them since that now has got the Accord involved.

GobbaNak: Even if he serves for the Grun'Tuk, his manipulative nature and magic prowess is not to be underestimated. With his own goals of achieving godhood, he's been set as one of the more deadly enemies to Audel to date.

Science Lord Rixis: It was a chance encounter in Pocket D that changed Audel's life. Since then, she's gone down the rabbit hole of the Cimmerian Path Conspiracy with her fighting against Rixis and the Cimmerian Path's ultimate goal. It is thanks to Rixis that she's changed to who she is today with the Curse of the Furies and became the "Broken Talon" that she is.

Despite his goofy appearance and eccentric personality, he became one of the most deadly super villains she's ever faced to this date.

Arachnos: It started as a mistaken identity. Arachnos thought one of the more notorious incarnates and hero from the Praetorian War, Luficia, had returned after many years. When it became clear that it wasn't her, they discovered her homunculus origins with their own seers. One particular Arachnos Operative is very interested and is responsible for pursing Solarguard so relentlessly. To Arachnos, Audel is a criminal who has done thousands of damage in Etoile when attempting to flee. There are outstanding warrants for her ever since.

The Skulls: Ever since learning how to use her powers as a teenager, she became one of many unofficial protectors of that part of the city. The biggest gang she contended with was the Skulls and they would send their best after the teenager. They couldn't figure out why her soul couldn't be taken unlike everyone else in their rituals. Audel was also one of the reasons many would leave the gang before getting in too deep. Even if its been many years since those days, the death cult hasn't forgotten about her.
