: Luficia wasn't satisfied with immortality.

: Since the end of the Praetorian War, Emily Engel longed for the normalcy that was denied her many years ago.  The Steadfast Pact had disbanded and many of her former comrades have gone their separate ways. Emily raised the boy she took under her wing, Jeremiah, and watched him become a hero just like her.

: The thought of watching her son marry, have children and grow old didn't bring her joy but despair. Emily couldn't bare the thought of burying her own son and then her grandchildren, watching whole generations come and go like fine sand. She would face stagnation while life would go on without her.

: If she could not stand being immortal then she would simply undo it through the creation of a homunculus. In order to create a homunculus, one must wield the hands of god to create life through means mankind was not meant to do. Seiken warned her about the death of her body, soul and ego in performing this ritual.

: Emily understood and chose to do it anyway. Jeremiah tried to stop her but he couldn't convince her out of it.  All he could do was help her in order to make sure MAGI didn't discover the project or witness it go horribly wrong.

: Then, on June 20th, 2012 at the height of the summer solstice at 7:09 PM, the ritual was performed with the summon with the mix of Greek and Nordic prayer. Seiken and Emily's soul was ripped apart, formed metrically into a new artificial soul and placed into Seiken's former gem. Meanwhile, Emily's body was dissolved into its basic components, reforming into that of a twelve year old little girl.

: The prayers were meant to rip both demonic and incarnate out of the equation. While successfully purging the demonic aspect out of her, the Well of the Furies would not be denied. It sensed something within the new birth and instead blessed the homunculus with a mantle on creation.

: The twelve year old couldn't comprehend such power and became the sun itself, screaming loudly with emotions rushing through her. All it could was a whisper of her own voice in the back of her mind, reassuring her;

: ‘Everything’s going to be okay. You are loved and you are safe.’

: The power fizzled out and Jeremiah scooped the unconscious child into his arms. It was that day that Emily's life came into an end so that a new life, born out of love and wishes from a Praetorian War vet, could rise in her place. There was only one name Emily saw fit to name the child.

<br>

: Audel.

: Jeremiah chose to adopt Audel and had papers forged to look as if she were always his child. There were concerns considering on adoption, Jeremiah was 25 years old but he ignored them.  Audel adjusted to her new life, body and mind adapting to that of a typical twelve year old girl.  Her mother's mistake in the ritual grew apparent from the child's unusual physical strength and durability with her unusual weight. Her solar power began to manifest with puberty and it only made things worse.

: He couldn't allow people to test his daughter or else the lie would expose everything. He couldn't let her inherit the Engel Estate or allow the testing to have her go to a specialized meta school, revealing her homunculus nature. Audel was forced to attend to a normal school in Kings Row and her power only isolated her from everyone.

: It only brought despair to the child.

: Jeremiah did everything he could and even begged Luficia's former nemesis, Dominatriea, to help him as he had no one else to turn to. She guided him and through Jeremiah, Audel learned to control her power better and that it wasn't all scary. Her mood improved and it got even better when two kids befriended her; May Carter and Reed Davis.

: Although she couldn't participate in any sports, May got Audel into reading novels and into fashion. Reed showed her other hobbies she could do that didn't involve using her physical power.  The trio became inseparable and it was some of the best years of Audel's life.

: Then, at the age of thirteen, she saw May and Reed getting kidnapped by Vahizlok. Even though Audel was told to call the police in situations like this, it was deserted and there was no one else around. She followed them into the sewers and found other people held hostage and being prepared to be butchered up. Audel couldn't stand the thought of her losing her two only friends as well as watching innocent people die.

: It was the first time Audel used her power against someone else and it didn't take long for her to subdue the Vahzilok. Untying everyone, Audel was able to guide everyone out of the sewers and back to the streets where police were waiting for them. Audel wasn't scolded for using her power but she was praised for it.

: Ever since then, it became routine. Reed would have a silly scheme and drag May along with it. Without fail, either the Skulls, Vahzilock, Trolls, Hellions or some other gang would get involved and May would get kidnapped. She'd send a text through her flip phone to Audel and she'd swoop in, save the day and stop whatever plot was in the process. One time, there was even a Nemesis plot involved and that pushed Audel to her limits.

: When they graduated high school, the trio enrolled into the local Paragon City University but Audel couldn't deny the urge to use her power for something greater; to protect people. She didn't want to react all the time but to be part of a new generation of change. For all the years she's guarded Kings Row and her friends from harm, she wanted to do a bit more.

: Her father was hesitant about it but he gave his blessing. While May and Reed were all for it, they knew they couldn't interact too much with Audel or else risk getting captured on a larger scale. Jeremiah warned them of the harsh reality of being a hero; it tests everything about you and you won't always be able to save the day. There will also be monsters more than willing to hurt the people who love you in order to get to you.

: Audel couldn't risk that.

: She would let herself become another kind of guardian; the one that would guard against the darkness. She didn't know what kind of hero she'd be but she knew what hero name that was fitting for her.

: Since becoming Solarguard in 2021, the path of a hero hadn't always been easy.

: Originally joining the New Defenders, she befriended and fought alongside Anomalie, Sun-Gun, Ultrali, Direct Control, Ghost Eyes and many others. While she enjoyed fighting to protect the city from Lukas Kaiser and the Shadow Corps, it led her wanting to do a lot more. She left the New Defenders in pursuit of reviving the Steadfast Pact but a branch of Arachnos sought value in her.

: Being chased for over a year to study her, Audel fled and isolated herself in Etoile until her friends, now the Accord, came and rescued her as well as her friends. Having returned to Paragon City, she's joined them with the group tenets that she believes in.

: From the return of Lukas to the Grun'tuk Empire, Solarguard is always on edge. Although it wasn't all bad; she met the 9th Magnitude, befriended him and the two got close. Now under the hero moniker, Vector, he proposed to her and now the pair are happily engaged.

: She's constantly evolving with her being involved with the Cimmerion Conspiracy and Science Lord Rixis' hand leaving her with the Talon curse and her soul gem stolen. Soulless, kind hearted folk managed to modify the curse enough to allow her to turn hate into love. Rixis' alliance with Lukas left her stone in his hand and she was used as a bargaining chip to force Anomalie to fight him again.

'''Super Strength''': Through a miscalculation from her mother, she has developed natural super strength. She can pack a whallop with her fist alone and lift cars.
: Lukas' Nictus, Lamontis, corrupted the stone as both wanted her to change into a monster. The last parts of Emily's will, the Accord's love and interference from the Well itself left her to change with a pink aura and ethereal wings. Its speculated the upgrade isn't permanent and could either be part of fate or the well itself trying to hold its incarnate together.

'''Super Durability''': Through a miscalculation from her mother, she has developed natural durability. Many mistaken it for invulnerability with bullets unable to puncture the skin. With enough force, the skin can be pierced.
: Why the Well chose to give her the Hermana Mantle instead remains to be seen.

'''Enhanced Combat & Fitness''': That training in the gym isn't just for show. She's flexible for a reason.
<br>

'''Sol Incarnate''': Like her mother, Audel inherited the power of the incarnate from the Praetorian War. Where her mother learnt slowly and built her power on her own, Audel had everything her mother worked hard given to her all at once. Audel didn't know this for years but it amplifies her powers as well as given her power of solar absorption and manipulation to begin with.
= '''''<div style="color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#fa5c89">Personality</div>''''' =

'''Solar Absorption''': By herself(via incarnate) and the Sol Stone, she is constantly absorbing the sun light and acts as an infinite resource for her powers.
<br>

'''Solar Manipulation''': Via Sol Stone and herself(via incarnate), she can manipulate solar energy absorbed by the sun through her own means. Her favorite is power her fists in solar light and punch her foes with mini suns if brute force is not doing the trick.
: Audel is a kind and compassionate woman despite her upbringing. She's gentle with her touch and is willing to hear anyone out even if she can't understand it.  As if stuck in a world made of glass, she's afraid of breaking anything with her weight and is even sensitive about it. Of course, being emotional, she's very quick to speak up and grow passionate with her words.

'''Thermal Emission''': Being solar powered, the air around her can get hot very quickly. This is used to her advantage to allow to create bursts of flame within her range. It can be used to make a fist of pure flame or within short range period.
: She's a hopeless romantic and gets excited whenever she sees her friends in budding relationships. Audel loves to indulge in sweets and whenever anyone is feeling down, she's ready to cook something delicious for anyone. Everyone seems to love her homemade potato chips! Audel wishes she could make sweets as well as she could make homemade meals though. Her potato chips is why she's considering opening a local business involving snacks.

* '''Electrical Manipulation''': This is only an after effect of the thermal emission. It can also create an electrical charge. It takes a lot to develop and can only fire in huge bursts through many of her foes.
: Her gentle touch has led her take calm hobbies such as crocheting, cooking, in-door gardening and reading historical and romance novels. Only recently has she grown into video games, thanks to her fiancé, and has grown a love for cozy games. She prefers to be outdoors, surrounded by nature and jogging through the streets of Paragon City.

'''Flight''': Through the Sol Stone, Solarguard can fly. Without it, she can't take to the air.

'''Human & Emotional Mimicry''': Audel is not a traditional human being. She is a humonculus and the rules are different for her. Any potentially fatal blows to the brain, the heart and other vital organs will not kill her. This has been mistakened for immortality many times. The Sol Stone is the heart and soul of her well being. Not only that but she can't feel emotion like any other human being can. The further its away from her, the harder it is for her to feel.  If the connection is cut, she is incapable of feeling any emotion. This could make for any villain/other being able to completely possess Audel or to control her for their own means.
<br>

= Personality =
= '''''<div style="color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#fa5c89">Powers & Abilities</div>''''' =

In her early age, she was nothing like her introverted mother.
<br>

That didn't mean she didn't inherit some things; her compassion was transported over with a desire to protect the weak.  She inherited her stubborness though Audel has a tendecy to not wield easily.
: ''"Dawn's embrace, bring forth the day, chase the shadows, light my way! With your brilliance, banish the night, grant me strength in morning's light!"''

She did develop a big of a temper that she wasn't able to control easily.  The scorn of her powers only made it worse and she broke things. A lot. It was difficult to control her strength around everyone else.
<br>

As she got older and developed as a hero, her temper cooled down and developed a playful side. A wink to a villain with a slam of her fist or other little details unless the situation demanded her to take it seriously. Her playfulness is reflected in her costume; from her jacket to the heart shaped sunglasses she always has on.
* <big>'''Hemara Incarnate''':</big>  Since the incident of her mother's ego death and interference with the Well, Audel lost the incarnate powers of Sol and replaced with Hermana. As such, Solarguard inherited her powers as well as her loving influence.

She is a hopeless romantic and always secretly gushes on any relationships that develop from friends to even strangers. Even with her extroverted nature, she desires calm things in life like gardening, knitting, reading books and listening to music.
<br>

Audel isn't perfect but that leaves her open to develop, to grow, and to change. Just like every other human being!
* <big>'''Hemara's Philosopher's Stone'''</big>:  The soul gem's shell was created by Direct Control and other influences for Audel's artificial soul. Because of bearing Hermana's mantle, it has empowered and changed the stone in of itself. While originally designed as a Philosopher's Stone, Hermana's mantle has given her soul protection. The stone is capable of bringing a person to life, like any philosopher's stone, but it would not effect the soul. However, this power is only able to be used once a year...

= Villains & Nemeses =
<br>

'''Arachnos''': To them, it was a worst fear come into fruition; one of the biggest heroes that fought against Arachnos had returned. It was enough to give Ghost Widow and even Lord Recluse to pause to that heroic name; Luficia. Many come at Audel in the hope of earning personal favor or under orders to try to destroy her. Many don't listen to Audel's protests that she is, in fact, not her grandma. Due to recent revelations, some have started to reevaluate Solarguard but there is the big fear of her return through Solarguard is still there. So, despite Audel's irritation, she is on one of the most wanted under both alias.
* <big>'''Love Empowerment''':</big>  Through Hermana and the remnants of her mother, this allows the Solarguard to channel the profound and transformative power of love to enhance her powers and abilities should Audel ever find herself fighting at night. During the day, this only helps strengthens her instead. The stronger the love she feels to a person she's able to focus on, the stronger and more potent her abilities become.

'''Nemesis''': This has been recent ever since joining Seismic Impact in saving the city one morning against a Rikti invasion and Nemesis revealed his hand in the plot. It was the first time she's exchanged real blows against Nemesis and his army but it wasn't forgotten.
<br>

'''Khalgra and the Grun'Tuk''': It's DC's fault, really. In his simulated life of a perfect world, he predicted how Audel with six others stopped the invasion of the Grun'Tuk. It was because of this prophecy that it reached the Grun'Tuk... or, rather, to Khalgra. The two have been enemies since with their potential clash growing inevitable.
* <big>'''Daytime Perception''':</big>  Audel has heightened senses during daylight hours, enabling her to detect and perceive things more clearly. This includes great distances as well.

'''Count Bedlam''': It started out nice. The two shared a love of literacy and he seemed interesting. The fear of villainous betrayal was too great and after one incident, the two fell at odds. Bedlam's vengeance will come one day.
<br>

'''Dominatriea''': For all intents and purposes, Audel doesn't know she exists. This villainness knows her though and will do anything to get her clutches onto Audel to research exactly how she was created. If Dominatriea can unlock Audel's secrets, then it will be the key for the villainess' own purposes. Exactly what that purpose could be is anyone's guess.
* <big>'''Super Strength:'''</big> Set apart from her incarnate mantle, her unusual density in her body has gifted her with super strength. Her strength is stronger during the daytime or empowered by her love.

= Backstory =
<br>

Before Audel, was Emily Engel.
* <big>'''Invulnerability:'''</big> Due to being created with unusual density, it's allowed her to become super durable! With Hermana's mantle and her love empowerment, this can increase to being near invulnerable during the daytime. Funny how a miscalculation with numbers led Audel to be this strong.

Emily Engel was a veteran hero that served in the Praetorian War and was part of the many heroic elite. Under the moniker Luficia, she was rumored to be part of many supergroups such as the Challengers, the Steadfast Pact or even fighting beside the great Xanatos himself.  It was hard to tell from fact and fiction but Emily retired from her heroic work on August 31st.
<br>

Even with her retirement, Emily couldn't comprehend her own immortality. A lot of her friends had either departed or died in the war. Emily couldn't bare the thought of watching her own adopted son grow old and die while she remained the sameWith her grandfather's soul, they studied in creating a homunculus; specifically out of her own body.
* <big>'''Weather Control - Daytime Influence:'''</big>  Audel has limited control over weather phenomena during the day. She's able to clear skies, summon gentle rain or even dispersing powerful storms to protect communities from floodingAlthough she's able to attempt this at night, it takes her own solar energy to do it.

Emily's contact with Ghost Widow through the years led her to master magic involving souls as well.  For even if one could create a homunculi, they would lack a personality or a soul.
<br>

She covered her tracks well! The only people that knew was her son, Jeremiah and his wife. Emily burnt a lot of her notes before the process was done.
* <big>'''Solar Manipulation & Energy Projection:'''</big>  Absorbing the light from the sun, Audel is able to manipulate aspects from the sun into short or long term blasts. Her signature move is to empower solar energy into her fists for a powerful strike against her opponents!

On June 21st, the ritual was performed with only her son as her witness. She had the formula set up with other materials to make up where her own body lacked. Her soul and her grandfather's would be merged into a stone to anchor to the new body. Everything was set up to perfection!
<br>

... except Emily messed up the formula mathematics, causing the ritual to make a far denser human being than what was supposed to be there. There was also the fact that Emily was an incarnate; under the power of [https://www.ancient.eu/Helios/| Sol, or Helios ]. This alone helped in ensuring a success in the newly created homunculi but also made her far more powerful than Emily ever wanted her daughter to be. Without it, Audel wouldn't have survived.
* <big>'''Sunlight Healing:'''</big> Her light has limited ability to heal others with sunlight from herself. She cannot heal herself! While able to tend to minor to moderate injuries, she's only capable of using her sunlight to stability serious to critical injuries until a doctor is able to treat them.

Emily wanted to leave behind a daughter; instead, she left behind a scared five year old with the power of a god and inhuman strength.
<br>

Audel Huxley was born into the world.
* <big>'''Daytime Flight:'''</big> During the day, Solarguard is able to fly at incredible speeds. At night, while able to fly, she's required to use solar energy to allow herself to move at the same speed.

=== After the Ritual ===
<br>

It wasn't easy growing up.
* <big>'''Animal Communication:'''</big> Audel can communicate with animals! Being able to understand their needs and feelings, she can also influence their behavior. Her loving warmth can calm aggressive creatures or even rally them to assist her.

Audel's strength alone forced her father to get a first floor apartment and specialized furniture to be able to keep up with her density. His budget could only cover a place in Kings Row. She went to public schooling despite her power and was feared a lot by the other kids. Specialists came in to run tests to try to find the source of her power but all would come either inconclusive or interference from her dad.

It left her with not a lot of friends except for two folk; May Carter and Reed Davis.
<br>

They gave her a chance where others wouldn't and adapted so Audel could play. Too strong for sports? Reed brought books for them to read together. Tired of sitting on the sidelines? May snuck magazines for the girls to look at; fashion and gardening magazines! It developed a special bond with the trio.
= '''''<div style="color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#fa5c89">Weaknesses</div>''''' =

Were it not for her two best friends, Audel might have came out completely different.
<br>

Once in high school, things changed.
* <big>'''Acranium'''</big>: A mystical metal invented by some of the best scholars in Arachnos, it was made specifically to bind or cut through homunculi. Designed to assassinate Solarguard, it has become her personal kryptonite. Even if Acranium is used to forge shackles or metal bars, it is the only thing Audel can't break through brute force. New versions of acranium have shaped it into crystalized shapes that can pulse energy to weaken or even stun the hero.

Walking home from school, Audel was abducted by the Vahzilok and dragged into the sewers. The only reason they were even successful was for the super powered vahzilok they had that day. She woke up to them attempting to try to cut her open except all their tools were breaking on impact. It wasn't difficult for her to break the restraints and subdue every single one of them.
<br>

Audel had to fight through many gangs in the sewers just to get out; the Skulls being the majority underneath the Kings Row sector. It was how she meant her nemesis of her teenage years - Draven. She punched him directly in the face while fighting through the rest of them. It left her understanding that her power could be used for something positive; something good for the city.
* <big>'''Nighttime Limitation'''</big>: Solarguard's powers are significantly weakened during the night or in the absence of sunlight. She relies on stored solar energy, which can deplete over time. Though love is able to be converted into solar light, if under emotionally durress, this weakness is still at play.

Maybe Audel could be just like her grandma, Emily.
<br>

Her father forebade her from getting her hero's license; not until she was 18.  That didn't stop Audel or her best friends. Donning some thrown on costumes sewn by May, the trio set out to fight against the Skulls. It wasn't easy and May was kidnapped(a lot) but the trio managed to make Kings Row a little safer. It only brought them closer together.
* <big>'''Eclipse Vulnerability'''</big>: During solar eclipses or in prolonged darkness, Audel's powers weaken significantly, making her more vulnerable to attacks.

Fighting against Draven made Audel feel alive; among other things.
<br>

All good things do come to an end though. After one last tussle that left the gang incapacitated for weeks, the trio graduated high school. Reed and May enrolled to colleges outside of Paragon City but they keep in touch with Audel. As for Audel?
* <big>'''Hatred:'''</big> Individuals filled with intense hatred can weaken Solarguard's love empowerment, unless her love is able to overpower hate...

When she turned 18 years old, her father sat her down and gave her a gift; the sol stone. It was a gift meant for her granddaughter. When taking the stone in hand, Audel discovered other powers she never knew she had and she could fly! After flying over the city for what seemed like eons, Audel signed up to get her hero's license and came up with the only fitting name for herself.

Solarguard.
<br>

Audel Huxley took the mantle of Solarguard and is officially registered with a hero's license. When she isn't fighting the good fight, Audel is studying at the University for her athletics degree.
<br>

Solarguard's name is climbing up the ranks but some would find Solarguard looks almost familiar if they ever knew of Luficia.

While Audel is studying in college, she's taken up teaching yoga and gym lessons at a famous gym in Steel Canyon. Her classes get filled up quick with her dietary advice, exercise regimes and group yoga classes.

She was part of the New Defenders, under the tutelage of the Global Defense Force, for a short while. It was a learning experience but Audel wanted to defend the city her own way. Briefly forming the Steadfast Pact, it was interrupted by Arachnos. Having finally accepted Audel Huxley as an independent person, they wanted to take her and study her whole being. If they could create perfected homunculi like Luficia did, who knows what Arachnos would do with such a thing?

They kidnapped her from her apartment but it didn't last long; Audel broke out with ease and has been on the run in the Etoile Isles since.

* Audel's solstone was transferred to a brand new stone, thanks to the Accord! It cannot be destroyed but it can be damaged to try to subdue Audel herself. The solstone is her mind and soul.
<br>

* To those who knew Luficia in any capacity; ''yes, she looks exactly like Luficia.'' Just a little thicker and with a toned frame.
<center>'''''is Love.'''''</center>

* It was never intended to be this way but a lot of inspiration for Solarguard's inception were the rules of homunculi in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Though she seems to relate a lot more with the themes from Rose Quartz in Steven Universe. It wasn't meant to be but her story and Luficia's seem sort of similar!

Backstory

Luficia wasn't satisfied with immortality.
Since the end of the Praetorian War, Emily Engel longed for the normalcy that was denied her many years ago. The Steadfast Pact had disbanded and many of her former comrades have gone their separate ways. Emily raised the boy she took under her wing, Jeremiah, and watched him become a hero just like her.
The thought of watching her son marry, have children and grow old didn't bring her joy but despair. Emily couldn't bare the thought of burying her own son and then her grandchildren, watching whole generations come and go like fine sand. She would face stagnation while life would go on without her.
If she could not stand being immortal then she would simply undo it through the creation of a homunculus. In order to create a homunculus, one must wield the hands of god to create life through means mankind was not meant to do. Seiken warned her about the death of her body, soul and ego in performing this ritual.
Emily understood and chose to do it anyway. Jeremiah tried to stop her but he couldn't convince her out of it. All he could do was help her in order to make sure MAGI didn't discover the project or witness it go horribly wrong.
Then, on June 20th, 2012 at the height of the summer solstice at 7:09 PM, the ritual was performed with the summon with the mix of Greek and Nordic prayer. Seiken and Emily's soul was ripped apart, formed metrically into a new artificial soul and placed into Seiken's former gem. Meanwhile, Emily's body was dissolved into its basic components, reforming into that of a twelve year old little girl.
The prayers were meant to rip both demonic and incarnate out of the equation. While successfully purging the demonic aspect out of her, the Well of the Furies would not be denied. It sensed something within the new birth and instead blessed the homunculus with a mantle on creation.
The twelve year old couldn't comprehend such power and became the sun itself, screaming loudly with emotions rushing through her. All it could was a whisper of her own voice in the back of her mind, reassuring her;
‘Everything’s going to be okay. You are loved and you are safe.’
The power fizzled out and Jeremiah scooped the unconscious child into his arms. It was that day that Emily's life came into an end so that a new life, born out of love and wishes from a Praetorian War vet, could rise in her place. There was only one name Emily saw fit to name the child.

Audel.

After the Ritual...

Jeremiah chose to adopt Audel and had papers forged to look as if she were always his child.
He couldn't allow people to test his daughter or else the lie would expose everything. He couldn't let her inherit the Engel Estate or allow the testing to have her go to a specialized meta school, revealing her homunculus nature. Audel was forced to attend to a normal school in Kings Row and her power only isolated her from everyone.
It only brought despair to the child.
Jeremiah did everything he could and even begged Luficia's former nemesis, Dominatriea, to help him as he had no one else to turn to. She guided him and through Jeremiah, Audel learned to control her power better and that it wasn't all scary. Her mood improved and it got even better when two kids befriended her; May Carter and Reed Davis.
Although she couldn't participate in any sports, May got Audel into reading novels and into fashion. Reed showed her other hobbies she could do that didn't involve using her physical power. The trio became inseparable and it was some of the best years of Audel's life.
Then, at the age of thirteen, she saw May and Reed getting kidnapped by Vahizlok. Even though Audel was told to call the police in situations like this, it was deserted and there was no one else around. She followed them into the sewers and found other people held hostage and being prepared to be butchered up. Audel couldn't stand the thought of her losing her two only friends as well as watching innocent people die.
It was the first time Audel used her power against someone else and it didn't take long for her to subdue the Vahzilok. Untying everyone, Audel was able to guide everyone out of the sewers and back to the streets where police were waiting for them. Audel wasn't scolded for using her power but she was praised for it.
Ever since then, it became routine.
When they graduated high school, the trio enrolled into the local Paragon City University but Audel couldn't deny the urge to use her power for something greater; to protect people. She didn't want to react all the time but to be part of a new generation of change. For all the years she's guarded Kings Row and her friends from harm, she wanted to do a bit more.
Her father was hesitant about it but he gave his blessing.
Audel couldn't risk that.
She would let herself become another kind of guardian; the one that would guard against the darkness. She didn't know what kind of hero she'd be but she knew what hero name that was fitting for her.

Solarguard

Today

Since becoming Solarguard in 2021, the path of a hero hadn't always been easy.
Originally joining the New Defenders, she befriended and fought alongside Anomalie, Sun-Gun, Ultrali, Direct Control, Ghost Eyes and many others. While she enjoyed fighting to protect the city from Lukas Kaiser and the Shadow Corps, it led her wanting to do a lot more. She left the New Defenders in pursuit of reviving the Steadfast Pact but a branch of Arachnos sought value in her.
Being chased for over a year to study her, Audel fled and isolated herself in Etoile until her friends, now the Accord, came and rescued her as well as her friends. Having returned to Paragon City, she's joined them with the group tenets that she believes in.
From the return of Lukas to the Grun'tuk Empire, Solarguard is always on edge. Although it wasn't all bad; she met the 9th Magnitude, befriended him and the two got close. Now under the hero moniker, Vector, he proposed to her and now the pair are happily engaged.
She's constantly evolving with her being involved with the Cimmerion Conspiracy and Science Lord Rixis' hand leaving her with the Talon curse and her soul gem stolen. Soulless, kind hearted folk managed to modify the curse enough to allow her to turn hate into love. Rixis' alliance with Lukas left her stone in his hand and she was used as a bargaining chip to force Anomalie to fight him again.
Lukas' Nictus, Lamontis, corrupted the stone as both wanted her to change into a monster. The last parts of Emily's will, the Accord's love and interference from the Well itself left her to change with a pink aura and ethereal wings. Its speculated the upgrade isn't permanent and could either be part of fate or the well itself trying to hold its incarnate together.
Why the Well chose to give her the Hermana Mantle instead remains to be seen.

Personality

Audel is a kind and compassionate woman despite her upbringing. She's gentle with her touch and is willing to hear anyone out even if she can't understand it. As if stuck in a world made of glass, she's afraid of breaking anything with her weight and is even sensitive about it. Of course, being emotional, she's very quick to speak up and grow passionate with her words.
She's a hopeless romantic and gets excited whenever she sees her friends in budding relationships.
Her gentle touch has led her take calm hobbies such as crocheting, cooking, in-door gardening and reading historical and romance novels. Only recently has she grown into video games, thanks to her fiancé, and has grown a love for cozy games. She prefers to be outdoors, surrounded by nature and jogging through the streets of Paragon City.

Powers & Abilities

"Dawn's embrace, bring forth the day, chase the shadows, light my way! With your brilliance, banish the night, grant me strength in morning's light!"

  • Hemara Incarnate: Since the incident of her mother's ego death and interference with the Well, Audel lost the incarnate powers of Sol and replaced with Hermana. As such, Solarguard inherited her powers as well as her loving influence.

  • Hemara's Philosopher's Stone: The soul gem's shell was created by Direct Control and other influences for Audel's artificial soul.

  • Love Empowerment: Through Hermana and the remnants of her mother, this allows the Solarguard to channel the profound and transformative power of love to enhance her powers and abilities should Audel ever find herself fighting at night. During the day, this only helps strengthens her instead. The stronger the love she feels to a person she's able to focus on, the stronger and more potent her abilities become.

  • Daytime Perception: Audel has heightened senses during daylight hours, enabling her to detect and perceive things more clearly. This includes great distances as well.

  • Super Strength: Set apart from her incarnate mantle, her unusual density in her body has gifted her with super strength. Her strength is stronger during the daytime or empowered by her love.

  • Invulnerability: Due to being created with unusual density, it's allowed her to become super durable! With Hermana's mantle and her love empowerment, this can increase to being near invulnerable during the daytime. Funny how a miscalculation with numbers led Audel to be this strong.

  • Weather Control - Daytime Influence: Audel has limited control over weather phenomena during the day. She's able to clear skies, summon gentle rain or even dispersing powerful storms to protect communities from flooding. Although she's able to attempt this at night, it takes her own solar energy to do it.

  • Solar Manipulation & Energy Projection: Absorbing the light from the sun, Audel is able to manipulate aspects from the sun into short or long term blasts. Her signature move is to empower solar energy into her fists for a powerful strike against her opponents!

  • Sunlight Healing: Her light has limited ability to heal others with sunlight from herself. She cannot heal herself! While able to tend to minor to moderate injuries, she's only capable of using her sunlight to stability serious to critical injuries until a doctor is able to treat them.

  • Daytime Flight: During the day, Solarguard is able to fly at incredible speeds. At night, while able to fly, she's required to use solar energy to allow herself to move at the same speed.

  • Animal Communication: Audel can communicate with animals! Being able to understand their needs and feelings, she can also influence their behavior. Her loving warmth can calm aggressive creatures or even rally them to assist her.

Weaknesses

  • Acranium: A mystical metal invented by some of the best scholars in Arachnos, it was made specifically to bind or cut through homunculi.

  • Nighttime Limitation: Solarguard's powers are significantly weakened during the night or in the absence of sunlight. She relies on stored solar energy, which can deplete over time. Though love is able to be converted into solar light, if under emotionally durress, this weakness is still at play.

  • Eclipse Vulnerability: During solar eclipses or in prolonged darkness, Audel's powers weaken significantly, making her more vulnerable to attacks.

  • Hatred: Individuals filled with intense hatred can weaken Solarguard's love empowerment, unless her love is able to overpower hate...

Nemeses

Arachnos: To them, it was a worst fear come into fruition; one of the biggest heroes that fought against Arachnos had returned. It was enough to give Ghost Widow and even Lord Recluse to pause to that heroic name; Luficia. Many come at Audel in the hope of earning personal favor or under orders to try to destroy her. Originally believing it was Luficia herself, they learnt the truth of her heritage. When they couldn't contain her to have her secrets for themselves, they sought to find ways to destroy her instead.

Nemesis: This has been recent ever since joining Seismic Impact in saving the city one morning against a Rikti invasion and Nemesis revealed his hand in the plot. It was the first time she's exchanged real blows against Nemesis and his army but it wasn't forgotten.

The Grun'Tuk Empire: It's DC's fault, really. In his simulated life of a perfect world, he predicted how Audel with six others stopped the invasion of the Grun'Tuk. It was because of this prophecy that it reached the Grun'Tuk... Since then, she's been at war with them since that now has got the Accord involved. They have her marked and she won't stop fighting against the Empire.

GobbaNak: Even if he serves for the Grun'Tuk, his manipulative nature and magic prowess is not to be underestimated. With his own goals of achieving godhood, he's been set as one of the more deadly enemies to Audel to date.

Moonscorch: A clone modified from her own DNA, her "brother" was an experiment from Vital Circuit's villainous alternate. With no love of his own to carry and incapable of feeling much of anything, his moonlight was corrupted to mutate anyone caught in his light. Now having broken away from his "parents," his goal is to show his "sister" the inferiority of emotion as well as see what all humans look like when exposed to his moonlight. Unbeknownst to Moonscorch, he's begun developing his own soul and with it, comes emotions...
