Backstory

Audel is a homunculus construct created in the dark during a leap year’s summer solstice. Her mother was driven to create her out of loneliness and desire for a daughter of her own. Given shape in the body of a twelve year old girl, her consciousness took shape to her physical age and her new soul bonded to her new flesh. Then the artificially created soul is bound inside of the philosopher’s stone. Its power alone acts as an anchor between body and soul. Unbeknownst to everyone, her mother purged the demonic roots from Luficia's body but she couldn't remove her incarnate power. That power transferred into Audel and it made the little girl's strength and density even more powerful.
No one knew if her physiology was due to a mutation, a technological blunder, work of magic or a scientific experiment gone wrong. Her father interfered with any chance to answer these questions and Jay was cryptic whenever he was questioned. School officials had no choice but to let her attend grade school within the Kings Row district.
Her strength and invulnerability only made her stand out from her classmates. Audel felt alone and isolated from the rest of the world. It didn't help that she felt emotionless and didn't know how to feel. She was teased ruthlessly and it made her start to resent humanity until two brave children put an end to the bullying; May Carter and Reed Davis.
Since that day, Audel learnt to feel and, more importantly, to love.
Through her father and close friends, she’s learnt to not only control her strength but to embrace it. Her years growing up in Kings Row were spent with May and Reed, defending the Row from different gangs(and Nemesis plots) and deciding who she wants to be. Audel wanted to be a hero worthy of the Luficia moniker but chose a new name for herself; Solarguard.
As Solarguard, she continued to learn and to love, fighting for a better tomorrow. It took time for her to realize what kind of hero her mother was and decide what kind of hero Audel wants to be; a good person who loves the world and the life that exists on it.
Since then, she learnt there is much more to do than simply guarding the populace. In order to be a good person, one must do more than wear a costume and wield their power. In order to love the world, one must help the injustices in more ways than one. She didn't want to guard against the dark; she wanted to become a light that illuminates against despair and is able to help no matter that.
Solarlight.

(TO BE EDITED )

Personality

Audel is a kind and compassionate young woman that lets her emotions get the better of her. She's passionate about anything she's dedicated to and doesn't hesitate to speak up. Wearing her emotions on her sleeves and thinking with her heart first has got the homunculus in a lot of trouble. Still, she's empathetic and will try to lend an ear to hero and villain alike unless given reason to not trust them. Audel is the kind of person who reaches out a hand, not a fist, wanting to appeal to a person's nature before resorting to violence.
Her body and mind are in the adult state of mind but due to homunculus background, Audel is emotionally immature. She's lost her temper and get into arguments in the past with others that's borderline childish. While Audel has grown better through the years, it has a tendency to resurface on occasion.
She gets excited when trying new things and even more excited when engaging her hobbies with people she cares deeply about. Her love language is homemade gifts so she's always cooking and crocheting anything as gifts to friends and family. Food is how Audel expresses herself and she's volunteering at soup kitchens to help cook at homeless and women shelters. With her past career as a fitness and health instructor, she's very particular and passionate on the health and wellbeing of both metas and non-alike. Audel is working to open her own fitness center with a youth training program for future heroes!
Audel has cooked nutritious meals for villains to try to appeal for peace as well as to learn more about them. When she takes a break, she's reading all kinds of essay, science, magic and other knowledgeable books to broaden her perspective as a superhero. A lot of those books hide her love for normal and supernatural romance novels, she gets incredibly embarrassed when anyone discovers her teenage vampire romance books.

Powers & Abilities

"Dawn's embrace, bring forth the day, chase the shadows, light my way! With your brilliance, banish the night, grant me strength in morning's light!"

These are her innate powers that she was created with. If the incarnate mantle and philosopher's stone disabled, these powers would remain.

Super Strength: Due to a mathematical equation error, Audel was 'born' with natural super strength. She is able to lift as much as an airplane in the air and punch through different kinds of metal. She doesn't display this strength often though; she prefers to hold back since the strength is caused by the physical density from her body. There isn't a day that goes by that she's holding back until someone gives her a reason not to.
Invulnerability: Audel is able to take lot of physical blows without breaking a sweat. It takes a lot to try to bruise her skin, let alone make any cuts. Its very rare for her bleed and even rarer to find any soft muscle tissue on her body. Being so dense physically, it does have its own problems such as being unnaturally heavy. She's incapable of getting a driver's license or ride vehicles unless they are designed for her specifically.

---

Philosopher's Stone: Originally found by Luficia, she used it to house the artificial soul she created for her daughter. It also stores what was left of Luficia's ego. When part of her mother's soul sacrificed itself to protect Audel from Science Lord Lamontis' sorrowful curse, the stone found Audel worthy of its power. The stone oozes with luminous energy, close to that of a Kheldian and pollutes her solar light' into a pinkish color.
The powers associated with the philosopher's stone are listed below:

Transmutation: Through mentorship and training under the Bull Demon King Amos and the Lady of Red Waters, it was discovered that this was not radiant healing but transmutating energy and matter. As long as Solarlight understands the material through taste and touch, she's able to transmutate it into existence. If she knows the object or energy, she could change its physical or energy properties to something else entirely. Its still a learning process but she's able to transmutate gold and silver perfectly.
Wings of Ambivalence: It was meant to be a short term solution. What was left of her mother's soul sacrificed itself and bits of her ego to create a sort of barrier to keep her daughter from turning into a talon. The remnants of her soul split apart, rooting into the*Curse of the Furies and spreading out as tendrils that extend from Audel's back. When the modified curse bleeds hate and its turned into love, the roots sap that love and empower each strand.
It was to protect and empower her daughter in the short term. What wasn't anticipated was the long term effects; because of how deeply enrooted they are into the curse, its preventing the curse from fading away. It also is preventing her from changing into a talon, able to reverse the effects within a delayed period.
Because of the love used in the magic left in the soul's death, her mother's beliefs manifested through as well. For every strand, represents a person in Audel's life. It could be a friend, partner, colleague, organization, but each one can be called upon and empower her when desperation calls for it. This power isn't meant to be used for trivial matters but for the world-wide or universe-wide threats only.
The longer the roots remain, the more the curse might turn into a blessing...
Life Accelerant: Through the luminous energy from the stone itself, her very presence encourages life to flourish around Audel. Because of Hemera's Mantle, this has not only been empowered but its strength is seasonal. During the spring and summer, her ability grows ten fold and is able to grow all kinds of vegetation according to that season. During the fall, it weakens but she is able to grow fall vegetation and even mushrooms. When it becomes winter, its at its weakest unless Audel wills herself to grow the vegetation around her.

---

Mantle of Hemera: This is the source of her incarnate power. Originally the Sol Mantle, it was changed by the well itself when she awoke from Lamontis' curse of sorrow and the modified curse of the furies. While her original solar powers remained the same, it added more abilities to her arsenal. It was as if she was suppose to attain the Hemera Mantle to begin with and not Sol's...
The powers associated with the mantle are listed below:

Daytime Perception: Heightened senses during daylight hours, this enables Solarlight to detect and perceive things more clearly and at greater distances. If the Wings of Ambivalence are in play, she will have this perception regardless of the time of day.
Solar Energy Manipulation & Projection: Able to manipulate aspects from the sun into short or long term blasts. Her signature move is to empower solar energy into her fists for a powerful strike against her foes!
Dayflight: This is what allows her to defy gravity and soar through the sky. If she’s in the light of the sun, her flight speed is increased tenfold. If its during the day, her speed is also increased two fold. If the Wings of Ambivalence are in play, she will have this perception regardless of the time of day.
Animal Communication: Audel can communicate with animals! Being able to understand their needs and feelings, she can also influence their behavior.
Weather Control - Daytime Influence: Audel has limited control over weather phenomena during the day. She's able to clear skies, summon rain or even disperse powerful storms to protect communities from flooding. If the Wings of Ambivalence are in play, she will have this perception regardless of the time of day.
Shadow Banishment: As it was Hemara’s job to banish the night to make way for day’s light, she has the power to dispel or banish shadow/void power outright so long as she’s able to surpass her opponent’s will.

Weaknesses

  • Nighttime Limitation: Solarlight's powers are weakened during the night. She must rely on solar power absorbed through the day until its depleted. The philosopher’s stone can counter this limitation but there’s only so much it can do on its own. If the Wings of Ambivalence are in play, this is negated.
  • Eclipse Vulnerability: During solar eclipses, this can have unforeseen consequences to Audel's powers. Not only could it weaken her but potentially disable her incarnate power temporarily until the solar eclipse passes. Wings of Ambivalence cannot disable this.
  • Curse of the Furies: though modified to slowly change from hate and vengeance to love and connections based off of Audel's emotions, the outpouring of hate is still strong. It's part of what Audel struggles to control. Even if the wings presents her from changing, there is a brief overlap where the hate and betrayal flows through that leaves her completely vulnerable during that period.
  • Light Sensitivity: Audel's eyesight is sensitive to bright lights. Ignoring the irony that the light-based hero is sensitive to light, she has to wear special sunglasses when using her superpowers or special contacts. Without them, she can be easily blinded temporarily.
  • Cold Sensitivity: She is very sensitive to the cold. She needs to bundle up tighter to colder temperatures and struggles even if it reaches 59F degrees. If it doesn't melt by the time it reaches her, the cold or ice will stun her way easier and even hurt her way more.
  • No Psychic Protection: Because Solarlight's mind and soul is in her solstone, she has no real protection to anything psychic. Anyone could take control of her very easily or use subtle psychic ability to nudge her to a different direction without Audel ever noticing it was happening. NOTE: This can only be done with explicit OOC consent. If there is no consent ahead of time, you will not be able to exploit this.

Friends & Allies

May Carter: Growing up in Kings Row wasn't easy. When May approached and befriended Audel, she taught Audie everything about Kings Row. After graduating with a fine arts degree, she returned back home and opened her own tattoo shop. Every tattoo on May's body was designed by her. Rumor has it that May's one of the only people who can use mystical ink without any issue. Audel considers May one of her best friends and May is willing to drop everything to help her friend. With Solarguard established as a hero, May gets to enjoy her business while the many gangs in the city refusing to touch her store.

Nemeses

The Grun'Tuk Empire: In a simulation of a perfect world, it showed how Audel with six other heroes stopped the invasion of the Grun'Tuk. It was because of this prophecy that it reached the Grun'Tuk Empire. Since then, she's been at war with them since that now has got the Accord involved.
GobbaNak: Even if he serves for the Grun'Tuk, his manipulative nature and magic prowess is not to be underestimated. With his own goals of achieving godhood, he's been set as one of the more deadly enemies to Audel to date.
Science Lord Rixis: It was a chance encounter in Pocket D that changed Audel's life. Since then, she's gone down the rabbit hole of the Cimmerian Path Conspiracy with her fighting against Rixis and the Cimmerian Path's ultimate goal. It is thanks to Rixis that she's changed to who she is today with the Curse of the Furies and became the "Broken Talon" that she is.
Despite his goofy appearance and eccentric personality, he became one of the most deadly super villains she's ever faced to this date.

Group Affiliations

The Night Shift: A diverse group of individuals who have come together for one particular goal; to pesevere against the dark that looms from the enigmatic force of Science Lord Rixis, the cursed hateful influence of Nikalla and the growing doom that looms beyond the chronoclasm, the Battalion.
Vanguard: She has taken to volunteering to fight against the Rikti and help with mothership excursions.
Hero Corps: When time permits it, there's a particular Hero Corps in Founders Falls that she likes to lend assistance to.
MAGI: Because of her homunculus roots, MAGI is very invested in her. Even if strained due to some within the organization wanting to label her as a magical artifact, she still lets them study her from time to time. Now that Audel has inherited the Engel Estate and its vast collection of artifacts, she has established communication with them with tentative means to work with them should they ask.

Group Oppositions

Arachnos: It started as a mistaken identity. Arachnos thought one of the more notorious incarnates and hero from the Praetorian War, Luficia, had returned after many years. When it became clear that it wasn't her, they discovered her homunculus origins with their own seers. One particular Arachnos Operative is very interested and is responsible for pursing Solarguard so relentlessly. To Arachnos, Audel is a criminal who has done thousands of damage in Etoile when attempting to flee. There are outstanding warrants for her ever since.
The Skulls: Ever since learning how to use her powers as a teenager, she became one of many unofficial protectors of that part of the city. The biggest gang she contended with was the Skulls and they would send their best after the teenager. They couldn't figure out why her soul couldn't be taken unlike everyone else in their rituals. Audel was also one of the reasons many would leave the gang before getting in too deep. Even if its been many years since those days, the death cult hasn't forgotten about her.
