Origin Story

Bethany Brae was never supposed to be a hero. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she was a small-town girl with big dreams of fame, fortune, and her name in bright lights. Blessed with classic beauty, boundless charisma, and a willingness to do whatever it took to make it in Hollywood, she carved out a niche for herself in the world of B-movies and campy sci-fi flicks. Known for her dazzling smile, effortless confidence, and a knack for making even the worst dialogue sound sultry, Bethany became a cult favorite among midnight movie fans. Her filmography reads like a fever dream of low-budget cinema: “Jungle Queens of Venus”, “Terror Beach 3000”, “Bride of the Atomic Gorilla”, and of course, “Space Amazons from Beyond” — the film that changed her life forever. During the climactic battle scene of Space Amazons, as Bethany was delivering her iconic line — “No alien tells me what to do with my laser whip!” — the special effects crew got a surprise of their own. A real dimensional portal tore open above the set, and a squad of Rikti soldiers poured out, blasters blazing. Cast and crew scattered in panic. Bethany was hit point-blank by a Rikti disintegrator beam… and didn’t fall. Instead, she looked down at the smoking hole in her costume and then — more annoyed than afraid — punched the alien through a studio wall. Cameras kept rolling as she tore through the attackers like a one-woman wrecking crew, hurling debris and shouting improvised one-liners. Within minutes, the Rikti fled back through the portal, and Bethany, covered in dust and studio lights, struck a pose that would later become the viral image of the year. The footage hit the internet before the studio could stop it. “Ms. Invincible Saves Hollywood!” screamed the headlines. Overnight, Bethany Brae went from B-movie bombshell to real-life superhero. Much to her agent’s horror, Bethany turned down several blockbuster deals, announcing she was “done pretending to save the world — it’s time to actually do it.” With her newfound strength and invulnerability, she moved to Paragon City, registering as a hero under the same name the tabloids had given her: Ms. Invincible.

Personality

Bethany is confident, flamboyant, and larger-than-life — the same charisma that once filled movie screens now lights up any street she patrols. She thrives in the spotlight, often striking heroic poses mid-battle or quipping dramatic one-liners that would make a director proud. But beneath the glamour and glitz lies genuine heart. Bethany knows fame is fleeting, but heroism — real, selfless heroism — is something worth fighting for. She’s brave, loyal to her teammates, and unshakably optimistic, always seeing the silver lining even when covered in alien slime or rubble dust. Still, she occasionally struggles to be taken seriously. Some citizens (and heroes) still think of her as the “cheesy movie star” rather than a true protector. Bethany doesn’t let it get her down — she just hits the gym, hits the streets, and keeps proving them wrong, one smashed villain at a time.

Motivations and Goals

Redemption through heroism: Bethany wants to show the world — and herself — that she’s more than a pretty face on a poster.

Protecting the powerless: Having seen the Rikti attack ordinary people without warning, she’s devoted to shielding those who can’t fight back.

Empowerment: Ms. Invincible often volunteers with at-risk youth programs, especially those helping young women find confidence and purpose.

A touch of showbiz flair: She’s currently producing her own superhero reality series — “Invincible: The Real Deal” — much to the dismay of the Freedom Corps PR department.

Allies and Enemies

Allies:

o Backlot Battalion: A small hero group made up of other former stunt performers and film crew who now fight crime together.

o Positron: One of her mentors, helping her better understand the physics behind her powers (and reminding her to stop breaking lab equipment).

Enemies:

o Director Doom: A rogue special effects artist-turned-villain who believes all of Paragon City is his “ultimate movie set.”

o Rikti Survivors of Squad Z-9: The very aliens she first fought, now obsessed with capturing the “Human Invincible” for study.

Powers and Abilities

Invulnerability:

Ms. Invincible possesses a superhuman level of durability that renders her nearly impervious to physical harm. Her skin, muscles, and bone density are far stronger than any normal human’s, allowing her to shrug off bullets, explosions, and most forms of energy projection with little more than cosmetic damage. She has endured direct hits from Rikti plasma rifles, collapsing structures, and even artillery fire without suffering serious injury. Though not truly immortal, her resilience borders on the impossible—her body can recover from massive trauma with astonishing speed, aided by a low-level regenerative ability.

Superhuman Strength:

Ms. Invincible can lift and throw tremendous weights, estimated at well over 100 tons under peak exertion. Her strength allows her to punch through steel, tear vehicles apart, and leap great distances in a single bound. In combat, she often uses her raw power to dominate foes with overwhelming force, performing feats such as clapping her hands to create shockwaves or pounding the ground to knock back multiple opponents.

Shockwave Impact:

By striking the ground or another large surface, Ms. Invincible can release a concussive wave of force in a wide radius. This technique is typically non-lethal, designed to clear crowds of enemies or disrupt groups of attackers. The shockwave is powerful enough to crack concrete and send even superhuman foes tumbling.

Enhanced Stamina and Endurance:

Her altered physiology grants her extraordinary endurance, allowing her to operate at full physical output for extended periods without fatigue. She can survive extremes of heat, cold, radiation, and pressure that would kill an ordinary human, and she can function in toxic or low-oxygen environments for prolonged durations.

Regeneration:

While not a primary healing factor, Ms. Invincible’s body naturally recovers from injuries at an accelerated rate. Minor wounds heal in moments, and even severe damage mends far faster than humanly possible.

Combat Skills:

Although she was not a trained fighter before gaining her powers, Ms. Invincible has since received instruction from Paragon City’s Freedom Corps and several veteran heroes. Her fighting style emphasizes raw power, defensive control, and showmanship—she’s as likely to end a fight with a devastating punch as she is to strike a dramatic pose afterward.

Charismatic Presence:

Bethany’s natural charm and experience as a performer give her a commanding stage presence both on and off the battlefield. She is a skilled motivator and public speaker, often rallying civilians or inspiring her teammates with her confidence and larger-than-life energy. Despite her Hollywood background, she uses her fame responsibly, leveraging her public image to promote heroism, empowerment, and hope.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Overconfidence:

A lifetime in front of cameras has given Ms. Invincible a larger-than-life sense of confidence—sometimes too large. She often underestimates her opponents or overestimates her own invulnerability, wading into dangerous situations without adequate backup. While her durability usually saves her, this recklessness has led to several near-catastrophic situations.

Showmanship:

Bethany still sees heroism through a cinematic lens, occasionally prioritizing style over efficiency. She’s been known to strike poses mid-battle, deliver quips when silence would suffice, and attempt overly dramatic takedowns simply because they’ll “look good in the papers.” Though endearing, this tendency can distract her or leave her open to tactical exploitation.

Mental Vulnerability:

Ms. Invincible’s physical defenses offer no protection against psychic or emotional manipulation. Telepaths, illusionists, and mind controllers can bypass her invulnerability entirely. She has limited resistance to mental influence and is particularly susceptible to attacks that exploit self-doubt or guilt surrounding her past fame.

Magical and Dimensional Attacks:

While highly resistant to conventional energy and physical damage, Ms. Invincible’s physiology offers little protection against magical effects or transdimensional energy—the same type that first awakened her powers. Sorcery, curses, or exotic extradimensional weapons can harm or weaken her where ordinary means fail.

Dependence on Physical Power:

Bethany relies heavily on her raw strength and durability, with limited ranged options or specialized tactics. Enemies capable of flight, teleportation, or distance combat can exploit her lack of versatility by keeping out of her reach.

Public Exposure: Her fame is both a blessing and a curse. As a recognizable celebrity and public hero, Bethany has few secrets. Enemies can easily track her movements, threaten those close to her, or manipulate her image through the media. She’s also bound by public scrutiny—any perceived misstep risks becoming headline news.

Emotional Drive:

Despite her confidence, Bethany’s heart can cloud her judgment. She has a strong protective instinct toward innocents and teammates, often placing herself in harm’s way to shield others, regardless of the cost. Enemies who exploit her compassion can use it to bait her into traps or moral dilemmas.
