History
Bethany Brae was never supposed to be a hero. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she was a small-town girl with big dreams of fame, fortune, and her name in bright lights. Blessed with classic beauty, boundless charisma, and a willingness to do whatever it took to make it in Hollywood, she carved out a niche for herself in the world of B-movies and campy sci-fi flicks. Known for her dazzling smile, effortless confidence, and a knack for making even the worst dialogue sound sultry, Bethany became a cult favorite among midnight movie fans. Her filmography reads like a fever dream of low-budget cinema: “Jungle Queens of Venus”, “Terror Beach 3000”, “Bride of the Atomic Gorilla”, and of course, “Space Amazons from Beyond” — the film that changed her life forever. During the climactic battle scene of Space Amazons, as Bethany was delivering her iconic line — “No alien tells me what to do with my laser whip!” — the special effects crew got a surprise of their own. A real dimensional portal tore open above the set, and a squad of Rikti soldiers poured out, blasters blazing. Cast and crew scattered in panic. Bethany was hit point-blank by a Rikti disintegrator beam… and didn’t fall. Instead, she looked down at the smoking hole in her costume and then — more annoyed than afraid — punched the alien through a studio wall. Cameras kept rolling as she tore through the attackers like a one-woman wrecking crew, hurling debris and shouting improvised one-liners. Within minutes, the Rikti fled back through the portal, and Bethany, covered in dust and studio lights, struck a pose that would later become the viral image of the year. The footage hit the internet before the studio could stop it. “Ms. Invincible Saves Hollywood!” screamed the headlines. Overnight, Bethany Brae went from B-movie bombshell to real-life superhero. Much to her agent’s horror, Bethany turned down several blockbuster deals, announcing she was “done pretending to save the world — it’s time to actually do it.” With her newfound strength and invulnerability, she moved to Paragon City, registering as a hero under the same name the tabloids had given her: Ms. Invincible.
Personality
Bethany is confident, flamboyant, and larger-than-life — the same charisma that once filled movie screens now lights up any street she patrols. She thrives in the spotlight, often striking heroic poses mid-battle or quipping dramatic one-liners that would make a director proud. But beneath the glamour and glitz lies genuine heart. Bethany knows fame is fleeting, but heroism — real, selfless heroism — is something worth fighting for. She’s brave, loyal to her teammates, and unshakably optimistic, always seeing the silver lining even when covered in alien slime or rubble dust. Still, she occasionally struggles to be taken seriously. Some citizens (and heroes) still think of her as the “cheesy movie star” rather than a true protector. Bethany doesn’t let it get her down — she just hits the gym, hits the streets, and keeps proving them wrong, one smashed villain at a time.
Motivations and Goals
• Redemption through heroism: Bethany wants to show the world — and herself — that she’s more than a pretty face on a poster.
• Protecting the powerless: Having seen the Rikti attack ordinary people without warning, she’s devoted to shielding those who can’t fight back.
• Empowerment: Ms. Invincible often volunteers with at-risk youth programs, especially those helping young women find confidence and purpose.
• A touch of showbiz flair: She’s currently producing her own superhero reality series — “Invincible: The Real Deal” — much to the dismay of the Freedom Corps PR department.
Allies and Enemies
• Allies:
o Backlot Battalion: A small hero group made up of other former stunt performers and film crew who now fight crime together.
o Positron: One of her mentors, helping her better understand the physics behind her powers (and reminding her to stop breaking lab equipment).
• Enemies:
o Director Doom: A rogue special effects artist-turned-villain who believes all of Paragon City is his “ultimate movie set.”
o Rikti Survivors of Squad Z-9: The very aliens she first fought, now obsessed with capturing the “Human Invincible” for study.
