Outrunner

Sammy Brown was a retro enthusiast who immersed himself in the eighties pop culture and anything retro from that time, whether be music, hairstyle, or overall aesthetic, he took it as a fun nostalgic pleasure, even as far as modeling himself after that period, such as having curly hair. His life changed forever when he went to a local vintage market that was auctioning old memorabilia and stuff that was old or from a certain period, Sam was there to search for anything the 1980s until he stumbled upon a cassette labeled "Tempo of Time", he was curious to it as he has never seen nor heard of Tempo of Time cassettes but he knew it was from that time, without hesitation. He bought it.

After he returned home to listen to it, he placed his cassette inside his 80s Sony Walkman cassette player, pressed the button, and started to tune in to the music, it was strange, 80s-like of course, but it was reverie inducing, he began to dance to it, compelled to it, as if the music took over him but he kept going, unbeknownst to him, he was surrounded by neon-like energies surging and coursing through the Walkman into him, he didn't notice as he had his eyes closed and kept dancing to the music. Dancing and smiling to every beat he listened to the music, its eighties jam and retro beats made him lost in his trance and dream while dancing to the music that playing and playing like a never-ending reverie.

All of a sudden after finishing tuning in the music, he felt complete euphoria, he wanted to tune in again but he noticed the cassette didn't start playing or work, he noticed that the cassette, was now destroyed, he was confused but also bummed out at that fact. The next day, Sammy noticed some difference, he began to feel energized as if that ecstasy feeling never left, he began to think faster, processing the fact he finished reading a magazine and walked faster than usual, he was confused by his sudden feeling of change, that all changed when he was being chased by a group of bullies due to his eccentricity and his retro antics, he ran away from them as he closed his eyes running, this time. Fast, real fast.

As Sam stopped somewhere in the city, he opened his eyes slowly and was shocked to see he was surrounded by Japanese neon signs and ethnically different groups of people walking by in the night of the city of Japan, Tokyo. Sam was shocked and baffled by this realization, Sam went from running away from the bullies at Paragon High School to being in the streets of Tokyo in just five seconds, this confused him a lot, and he was petrified for a brief moment before he slowly enjoyed himself in Japan, but then as he tried to run, he suddenly saw before him, he was running fast, and upon his eyes, he watching the front road, running, all black but starfield that streaks towards him, like he's in hyperspace. He then was in Norway in Oslo.

From there he went to Egypt, to South Korea, needless to say, he deduced he had super speed that often left a neon light streak in his wake whenever he ran before he arrived back at Paragon High School, he was shocked to realize he only came late to school about 15 minutes late. Sam began to extensively try to understand how it all happened, then he remembered the streak he often left when a sudden news report spread across the globe about a mysterious "neon streak" passing by, very synthwave, he then discovered it all. It was the mysterious cassette that he bought from a vintage auction, while he was tuning in the Tempo of Time, it must've surged him with such power he wasn't aware of, how and why, he wasn't sure but he loved it.

Without second to lose, he became the fast-moving speedster that leaves a neon streak in the night across the world for everyone to notice as Outrunner.
