Dr. Charlotte Marceau was a successful doctor specializing in the learning of meta bodies and the way ailments affected them, along with the broader spectrum of Meta Care. She encouraged her peers to take a much broader range of studies in order to better understand the breadth of mutations, as well as joining forces with technological geniuses, to help understand cyborgs, androids, and the like. She oversaw the Chicago hospital's wing dedicated to Meta Care.

When her own mutation kicked in, later in life than is assumed normal, it came in hot. Literally. Exploding into flames like a phoenix heading to a rebirth, she took part of the wing with her... and some patients, too. While there was obvious sadness over the loss of life, she had no regret over being a meta herself, and claimed that the accident was not actually her fault.

With no prior knowledge of her meta status, she said she should not be held accountable, as most young mutants should not be when their mutation develops. Side effects are unpredictable and the burgeoning of powers generally happens loudly.


Her stoic explanation in the face of questions left her peers no choice but to dismiss her.Her family largely dismissed her. Facing an abundance of charges, she left Chicago for the relative (political and press) quiet of Etoile.
There, she found a lack of medical positions, apart from a couple of offers to be a very private doctor. Having no desire to be under anyone’s thumb, she declined. Besides, cozying up to the bad side of the law with destructive powers such as hers, was much easier… and if she had to admit it to herself, possibly a little more enjoyable.
